After seeing a few short deleted scenes on the Blu-Ray, I thought it would be benefical to see more of Phil's depressed period, while adding back 2 more good tasks on his final day in Punxsutawney.

As with his "Darklighter" edit, so too is this edit a complete treat! Once again Bobson shows how a film can benefit from the use of adding deleted scenes, and a few other things (see the changes list). Great visuals and audio editing.
This is, in part, one of the reasons I enjoy fan edits, but I digress. After listening to the director's commentary track on the Blu-ray — hearing how many years, centuries even, might have passed before Phil's day ended and his transformation came to fruition — I realized the original film came up lacking. Here is where this fan edit surpasses the original. While too many films nowadays are too long, bloated even, for little or no good reason, Groundhog Day, in my estimation, is too short. More could have been done in the original to show the extent of Phil's character growth and transformation, beyond the released deleted scenes. However, Bobson brings us one step closer in this regard. Well done! And thank you, Bobson.

This here is what I like to see, a great movie with the cut bits put back in, the full experience.
The cut scenes did not get the same love as the rest of the movie from the creators, of no fault to the fan editor, but wow, if it wasn't for the clear lack of care on their end digitizing the original film reel, it would be hard to notice they were put back in!
Already great movie, I feel is improved upon by having the cut content put back in, really helped flesh out how long he was there and what all he did with his time.
This is definitely the way to watch the movie from now on in my opinion.

The magic of this film is the care-free attitude of the main character, while we see him struggle and exploit him supposed "Infinite Reset" button, and so far as extended editions go, we get to see more of it.
Quality of the edits is superb, you can see that they don't hold up to source material, but the way they were cleaned and corrected, it won't bother you further than initial cut.
Yes, we can see and understand why the scenes were cut, they were after all just a redundant exposition to show, just how long Phil was repeating the same day, what he did, and what skills he acquired out of boredom. Honestly, the addition of his pool and bowling apparent mastery, almost makes you "feel" like he was looping way longer than original film.
My favorite addition is Phil saving a girl from the truck, since it incorporates a little bit of comedy much more tonally fitting the original film, and not just exposition of yet another skill and douchey behavior reminiscent to the first part of the film. Much more humane scene.
As far as recommendations go, it will be definitely an enjoyable watch for any fan of the film. I suppose it wouldn't be a go-to version if you want to introduce someone to the film for the first time, but it might become yours favorite edition to re-watch.
