When I spent a considerable amount of money on the entire 4K boxed set of Game of Thrones to watch it in one go after initially missing the boat when the series first aired, I felt blown away by the world and the characters. Unfortunately, the quality of the show came to a sharp dip when the final two seasons ground my hype to a fine powder, unraveling pretty much everything I loved about the show. I was immensely excited when I learned that my fanediting hobby converged with one of my favorite TV series, so I had to check this out. In the end, it definitely delivered.

As long as you temper your expectations for what to expect, you should have a great time watching this edit. Of course, if your expectations were already in the mud from the original handling of the show, that should be sufficient for you to appreciate an undertaking of the scope that this one has. Narratively it feels much more true to the spirit of the show, and although I have quibbles here and there about specific decisions that were made, it's hard to deny that the end product is a much better alternative all around. In particular, the rearranging of key events and character development arcs are all coherent and stronger for being arranged this way.

This is one of my favorite edits because it salvaged one of my favorite pieces of media. It's not what I would consider perfect - because one can only do so much with what one has available - but at certain points it comes damn close. It gave me a satisfying send-off, and there were several points in the narrative's development that I got legitimate goosebumps and sat in awe. Without getting into spoiler territory, certain events that happened in the new version were everything that I could have wanted from the series.

Great job all around. I'm really glad I watched this.

I really enjoyed this edit a lot. The thing with the show was that it always had good acting and production values, so with the right story, pacing, narrative and scene choices a truly compelling vision of the final two seasons has been realised into a watchable version that will pretty much now be my go to for the final seasons, and keeps re-watch value for the whole series alive.

The scene cuts and transitions were great and you even made Ed Sheeran and Euron not make me want to poke my eyes out., Well done for coming up with a way to avoid a lot of what I did not like about Dany in season 8. The final Winterfell battle worked really well as did completely re-ordering the scenes and altering the narrative.. Some scenes really do work so much better. The removal of fast travel and modern dialogue works really well too. There's nothing in this edit that really snapped me out of the experience like the D&D versions did. almightcutie clearly understood what made the show so good in the first place, and it is remarkable how just getting the pacing right makes this so much better.

A truly admirable edit, Really really really excellent work. This FEELS LIKE GAME OF THRONES!

This is my first viewing of a fan edit and I enjoyed every bit of it.

The original last season felt like a total mess in closing loose ends, but this edit manages to maintain the integrity with that of the beloved previous seasons. This edit ensures that the story doesn't feel rushed. Every decision made in this edit makes more sense than the original. There is no rush to close out anything, and the pacing feels much more drawn out especially during the battle of the White Walkers. I remembered how underwhelming the outcome of the battle with the White Walkers was for me, and also thinking how upsetting it was that it was considered less valuable than the battle at Kingslanding. This edit does not disappoint in fulfilling the expectation that I initially had before seeing the original.

I had little expectations of this, yet was blown away by how satisfying the ending was. The last two episodes was such a treat, and although it was probably the most sequentially edited piece out of all the episodes, it was such a marvel to watch.

My GOT journey feels more complete with this edit. Congratulations to almightycutie for such a phenomenal edit. I recommend any GOT fans to check this out, especially for those who fell out of love due to the last seasons.

This is an amazing edit... The last season of Game of Thrones was so bad it ruined the entire show for me. What this edit shows is that most of that damage was actually done in the last 3 episodes and by essentially removing them and bringing a shortened battle of Kingslanding earlier in the story the narrative is greatly improved. The battle against the White Walkers now becomes the climax of the show as it always should have been.

That being said I think this edit still falls short of creating a great finish for the show, which is no reflection on what has been created, simply the fact that a fan edit can only do so much with the material that exists. However, what the edit does achieve is a satisfactory finish that, as the title says, redeems game of thrones so it can be enjoyed again. A great many problems are fixed with this edit and the extra voice work is surprisingly effective at giving Bran a purpose and creating a more satisfying end to the Night King. Its hard to see what more could be achieved without re-shooting his end (or indeed the entire battle).

I must commend the editor on all the hard work that has clearly gone into achieving this excellent retelling and would recommend this edit as a 'must watch' for anybody who enjoyed the show.
