Brief Synopsis:
Lawyer by day, vigilante by night, Matthew Murdock was blinded as a young boy. Without his sight, his other senses became enhanced to superhuman levels. He now uses his abilities to stop criminals in the rough New York neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen. His efforts are not welcomed by Wilson Fisk, a powerful businessman who hides in the shadows.
Intention:
Daredevil Season 1 is an amazing season of television, but it suffers from some of the same issues all of the Marvel Netflix shows do: 13 episode seasons running at 45 minutes each was too long. Filler content had to be added and the pacing of the show was incredibly slow in the first couple of episodes. Over time This edit seeks to make the

Editing Details:
The process began with watching entirely through the Defenders Saga, then Daredevil (2003), and finally, a separate Daredevil Season 1 Fanedit. I then knew what had to be in and what had to be cut. I had found what was essentially the core of Daredevil's spirit and what I had to include for continuity with the other seasons of Daredevil and the lead up to Defenders. I separated the season's episodes into a 3 act structure and began whittling away until I had a single story without filler. Revision after revision followed until this perhaps complete version of the film was finished. This journey began in 2019 and fully ended in 2021 with this version.
Cuts and Additions:
All shots cropped to 2.39:1 (1920x800)
Title graphic added the end of the intro scene.
Added Marvel Studios intro sourced from Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Opening Credit sequence recycled as Mid-Credit sequence.
Day scenes are all recolored to have a more natural look.

Cut fade transition after action sequence.
Dialogue trimmed in argument between Ben Urich and Ellison.
Plot details from episodes 3, 4, and 8 mostly covered in action montage.
Claire is no longer a named character in this edit, she appears once and has no play in the plot.

Touch My Face scene trimmed.

Vanessa's involvement in Fisk's escape removed.
Avengers Tower added to the end of the Cut

Amazing that the editor managed to condense the story into 3 hours. There were a handful of plot threads that weren't explained fully, but that's typical of TV-to-movie edits. Video was perfect, I didn't notice anything wrong. I did notice the audio levels weren't quite right through the whole thing, every now and then music will overshadow dialog or SFX will be cut short, but these are things the editor will no doubt figure out over time.

With the new color grading, this will probably be my go-to version if I want to rewatch the series.

This was so well done!!! Especially for 75% of the show being cut out. The pacing is nice too. I'd be down for a 3 hour cut if it answers these questions:
-why is Karen released just bc she has lawyers?
-why do we need to know its a few days later and if we do why in such a loud way?
-why do we cut so quickly to the morgue after one ring? Its jarring bc we dont know who it is for a long time.
-Why is the music so loud when people are talking during the montage?
-Why is Leland having Det. Hoffman important?
-Why does the audio dip out when the helicopter flies over and we cut to Foggey in the Hospital?

If you're like me and you were bored by glacial pace of the original Netflix show but thought the ingredients were there for a solid Daredevil adaptation, this is exactly what you are looking for.
