This kind of very personal edit can be a little opaque to some audience.
That said it worked great to me, not only because the music is cool but also because once we understand that every main characters of each scenes are in fact the faneditor himself
(in this case Blueyoda) we can follow pretty well his different states of mind and the progression from child to man.
At least that’s the way I feel this edit.
To me it’s a 10/10 for it’s bold, original, “risky” (and not too long!)
Not sure it will work for everyone though. It’s a trip.

Excellent, fun edit which I thoroughly enjoyed. I watched with my daughter who's also a huge MJ fan and she was delighted. I think the broader thematic elements in play went over her head but I don't think that mattered one iota. There were a few times where the music and the visuals didn't quite gel for me but that was rare and of course, subjective. Overall this is a really fun experience. The way we move past tragedy and sadness is to get the f*@# up and dance. I love that.

It got to me more and more. Blueyoda had a vision, and one is drawn into it. If you let it. I agree that this is hard to rate, and ratings are certainly not what BY thought about when making this. Loved the ending anyway.

I was looking forward to watching this. I like giving experimental films a chance every few years. (so I'm not a fan of those, but have watched my share, just putting that out there) Being an MJ fan (and being able to say I saw him twice in concert) also intrigued me. And reading all these reviews, I was prepared to be blown away.

I was not.

Maybe the other reviewers aren't exposed to much film of this manner. Maybe there's a coolness factor because this type of mash-up isn't very common. It just didn't do it for me. If there were more subtle points behind the use of imagery and songs, it was lost on me.

What really took me out and bothered me and leads to my more leaning-to-the-negative is this:

the point where the editor uses MJ from Thriller, the zombie dance sequence. And uses a different piece of music. IMO, the music (any music) should have been in sync with the dancer's moves. MJ was a very accurate dancer, in terms of rhythm. And the editor puts him at odds with the beat of the chosen, different song. But only slightly. It's just off.

It's an experience and I'm sharing where the experience subjectively turned me off.
