Conquest of Jurassic World

Hard to tell if the narrative really works on this one. As other reviewers have mentioned, it feels like you'd have to be familiar with both films (seeing each at least once, probably multiple times to really give the edit clarity), for the narrative jumps to work. However, having seen both these films multiple times, some of these narrative jumps from film-to-film are a bit jarring. So, I really am not sure they work either of the two ways. Additionally, the editing that occurred - mainly when transitioning from one film to the next (also occasionally when Jurassic World had been trimmed), was a bit awkward and further highlighted these narrative issues.

The first act was pretty strong, however. I loved the first cut between the two films (the Mosasaurus), and the next couple were pretty entertaining to see as well. But, for the majority of the middle portion, I realized I was kinda losing track of the two narratives, and it just sort of felt like I was watching one being interrupted by the other. The edit hadn't entirely lost sight of itself, but I couldn't help but find myself questioning it every so often. The climax was more of the same, though a bit amplified as we were dealing with so many characters and subplots at this point, as well as the same handful of a few characters jumping back and forth three years. I really loved the narrated "prologue" of sorts that preluded the ACTUAL prologue to Fallen Kingdom. That almost made me forget about the aforementioned issues - just almost.

All-in-all, this was a cool edit to check out but I think the concept was a little too ambitious for execution - it works better on paper than film. If you're interested in checking this edit out, you still should. It has it's flaws, as everything does, but it's still fun and while I wouldn't say it ENHANCES these two films, it's certainly a neat way to check both of them out - especially if you're like me and trying to get your money's worth out of them.

This is a great edit. I love how JobWillins has used the first Jurassic World as flash backs for Fallen Kingdom. The way the edit is put together makes sense with the flashbacks and its not confusing or distracting at all. I really enjoyed this edit and would I highly recommend it if your a fan of the Jurassic Park \ World movies.

As a long time Jurassic Park fan,I was sorely disappointed by Fallen Kingdom at this theatrical release.While it did have some great moments(the cold open,the death of Nublar,Ian Malcolm and the ending too),it just lacked a cohesive structure in the firs place and felt rather cliched at parts.I feel that JobWillins's edit makes the best of both world's by using the rather mediocre Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom to make a compelling and great showcase of a fanedit.Like galadantien already mentioned in his review,the contrast of characters between Claire and Owen is made to seem like a genuine plot point(which both films brush off rather abruptly in favour of more CGI and action).Especially during the ending when Claire is left to decide the fate of the dinosaurs where the scene is juxtaposed with her decisions in world and her interactions with Lockwood was edited beautifully.The only place where I found the flashbacks a bit distracting was at final battle of both films,where it became difficult to keep note of both fight sequences nor did it let me take in the spectacles of either fights themselves.Other than that the edit is paced well and is very seamless.

Also while I am not exactly sure if certain scenes have been re-colour graded to make the CGI dinosaurs seem more natural rather than appear blatantly obvious as shown in the theatrical release(This was very apparent in JW atleast).Regardless of whether this was a placebo or not,it just serves as testament to how well this edit operates and definitely serves it purpose of making fallen kingdom a better film.

I think you must have seen both films before watching this edit. It is well done, especially the beginning and ending, the only problem I have found is that sometimes it's not easy to understand when a flashback has started.
This problem would be completely nonexistent for those who have already seen both movies but I had only seen the first one, hence at times I got confused (although I quickly got back on track). The events were realigned in a very interesting way.
Some scenes are laughably bad and cliche, which made me completely disconnect, but that's the film's fault not the edit's.
I have found the ending to be particularly interesting and well done with a juxtaposition of the events between the second and the first film.
All in all it's a good way to enjoy Jurassic park without feeling bloated, especially for those who enjoyed the first series of films.

A vast improvement over both films to be sure. Jurassic World was excellent but suffered from reboot syndrome and thinly written characters. The contrast between Claire and Owen across the two films adds some much needed depth to their characters and rewards intelligent viewers by giving them something to observe and think about as the otherwise shallow proceedings fly by.
This film also brings the ideas posed by the series directly to the fore, offering a much richer experience.
The pacing is very good as the events of both films go by up until the volcano erupts. Other reviews have said they think flashbacks should have ended here and I see why. The flashbacks are used fairly well thereafter but the 2nd film takes precedence leaving the remaining scenes of Jurassic World spread so thin as to loose all impact. I found the constant cutting away from the climax of Jurassic World, and the fact that that story had no further bearing on the present day events caused these scenes to flounder and the pacing in the final act suffered deeply for it.
Other than that, a worthy edit, showing excellent technical prowess and turning The Fallen Kingdom into a much better film.
