Brief Synopsis:
I changed the entire soundtrack (minus 2 songs where a character mimes the original songs). All songs are period correct to the era (1977-1983).
Intention:
This is my favorite movie. I have seen it more times than I can count and always wondered how it would change the tone of the movie with a completely different soundtrack. I was initially inspired to do this as the name of the film, Boogie Nights, did not feature the popular song "Boogie Nights" but the band Heatwave. P.T. Anderson was unable to get clearance to use this song in the original, which initially inspired me to edit the intro of the film.

I understand that nothing visually was really changed just the soundtrack. So for me the music helps me remember many things about Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley during this time period. The music helps "you" be more involved in the movie since it is "period correct". Great choices also. It reminds me of that time when "we", the crowd I hung with and since we all lived near the beach (Venice). If a person would come from the valley over the hill. (The Sepulveda Pass of the 405 South) they would hear "Valley go home !!!". If you have seen the movie Lords of Dogtown and where the Jay Adams character drops a guys carburetor in the ocean it's because he was "a val". Thanks for bringing back so many memories of a great time. Hitting the beach and cruising Van Nuys Blvd. Oh and one time a frind and I saw Nina Hartley grocery shopping in Marnia del Rey. So on my popcorn scale because the soundtrack made a good move better for me. I will give it 5 out of 5.
