A viking god, a stand-up comic
What in common could there be?
If answer "nothing" you did,
You are smarter than Waititi.

Hammers, axes, goats, and gods
Have hearts to fall in love.
If 3 of those 4 sound silly to you,
You'll be happy to lose the above.

An edit of story, a change of tone,
This film needed much more focus.
Was it possible to make lead into gold
Or had Taika finally broke us?

Cuts galore! Chop! Chop! Chop!
This now runs mercifully short.
Farce, schtick, and mockery are gone
It's a film of a different sort.

The music was grand, the effects superb,
Though the drama is lacking here.
With acting and plotting so muddled
I never came close to shedding a tear.

The Guardians are gone, Avengers are dead
Can Thor ever just be Thor?
Now with tattoos, daughter and pet goats
The answer is "no", he's a bore.

Thor 5: Adventures in Portlandia
Is still where this franchise will head.
No edit can reform Marvel's story
Which will probably end up with him dead.

But casual fans will here enjoy, though those hardcore will still find fault
There are limits to what can be amended in this excellent effort by Tremault!

If there's a big issue dragging down the MCU as a whole, it's the excess of comedy. Along with the frequently formulaic plots (interestingly averted on TV, with shows like "WandaVision" and "Loki" daring to experiment a bit, but the theatrical releases still cling to the formula) and the overabundance of CGI, this is what consistently keeps these movies from becoming anything beyond fast food entertainment. Even the best ones in the franchise suffer from an obligatoriness of shoehorned jokes, almost as a recipe that can never be varied. And it comes across as the makers not trusting their own material, feeling the need to mock and lampshade it non-stop as in trying to save face and apologizing for making something so "silly". For a deeper essay on this, I recommend the already classic YouTube video "What Writers Should Learn from Wonder Woman" by Just Write.

The unfortunate result is that we, the viewers, can very well miss that under all the jokes there may be a pretty good story after all. The official cut of "Thor: Love and Thunder" did very little for me. It felt both unengaging and unengaged. It was like watching all the worst parts of "Thor: Ragnarok" (which I liked a lot) without any of the best parts. So, this edit was an eye-opener. Once the silly garbage has been removed (or toned down - fear not, there are still some jokes there, it hasn't been turned dry), the story reveals itself to be actually pretty good, and touching even. Dear Hollywood: themes of heroism, loss, love, grief, pain, self-worth and such, need no tongue-in-cheek approach. Let stories be sincere. A sense of adventure is all that's needed in order to keep it from being overly sad. That, not cinematic self-mocking.

A tremendous job of distillation that more than making a silk purse out of a sow's ear, removes the sow's ear to reveal the silk purse that was buried underneath. Technically it's excellently executed as well, the new effects are completely seamless, and the recreated credits sequence is impressive.

I wish the official MCU approach was closer to this overall. Highly recommended.

As always tremault never fails to disappoint in editing bad MCU films and making them better. I had never seen Thor Love and Thunder the Original cut, but I bought myself a DVD copy as soon as I heard this was being made. Suffice to say after watching it the first time, it was much better than I was hoping it was. Then watching the final edit again, it seemed that some adjustments were made, but id argue again for the better. This is easily going into my Post- Phase 3 folder of MCU fanedits as a way to conclude the MCU with it recently becoming a bloated mess.

First of all, this edit has a very creative name and cover, it is especially in sync with the overall theme of the movie after this edit. I loved the new intro, loved the adding of November Rain in the Zeus scene, it especially fits to the Welcome to the Jungle intro. Loved the removal of the talking Korg face. To make it short, every change made by tremault made this movie better! That also includes the ending as well as the outro song.
Incredible respect for the amount of work, the creativity and the willingness go to any length in order to make a scene work, the way that tremault wants it to, which totally meets my personal taste! The pacing of the story/movie is great, the music choices and only the most fitting jokes stayed alive, which leaves a really good and balanced movie underneath it all, brought into the light for the first time.
Thanks again tremault and please continue to make movies better, like this. What a tremendous talent you have!
