I saw this in the theaters with my buddies when I was eleven. We had a fun time at the movies but I have since forgotten pretty much everything about it. A Bionic Bob fanedit is the perfect way to revisit this.

The black & white effect was excellent, it really helped bring it back to the pulp era and made the cheese taste better. I quite enjoyed the movie this time around. And after reading the cutlist and watching the About this Edit video I was astounded by how different the movie feels without cutting a ton.

Editing was well done, only issue I had was the opening titles were too crisp compared to the damaged footage.

Recommended for lovers of pulp heroes.

Top job and a quality companion to The Shadow Strikes!
Cannot stress how enjoyable this was.
The audio mix was clear and nicely detailed.
Video edits were well planned, tightening the pace and reducing Treat Williams acting deficiencies.i
Did have a quibble with the visuals at the beginning. The jungle scenes were all too soft, lacking the contrast one would expect from traditional Black n White film stock. Cannot be faulted, however, as Bionic Bob made the most of resources.

The 1996 adaption of The Phantom was always a PG movie. Sex and violence very toned down.
Billy Zane was comfortable as The Ghost Who Walks, though he was awfully polite. In addition, how on earth he preferred whitebread Kristy Swanson over smoldering Catherine Zeta Jones defied comprehension.
The film is fun, breezy and light, not as dark as many actual serials from the 30s.

Good popcorn flick - safe for family viewing - and definitely recommended over the original.

Bravo. A worthy successor to The Shadow Strikes. It has been a long time since I have seen the theatrical cut, so I am keeping this short. After reading the cut list all of the cuts seemed very appropriate and the narrative flowed very well. It was a fun one to watch.

I was a little disappointed that the videos in the thread weren't thrown in as special features for the DVD.

I am very impressed with the projector sounds, scratch effects and clouded edges added at the beginning and end. They were faded out effectively and I am glad you didn't use them in the film itself as you did in SS. Well done. Now on to the Rocketeer Strikes, then Dick Tracy Strikes, then Tarzan Strikes, then.....

You continue to impress with your Pulp edits, BionicBob! This was a splendid matinée with good editing throughout. As with your LXG-edit, I almost wished for a 1.33:1 crop to further sell the pulpiness. But it is of course hard to re-frame an entire movie! Anyway, I found it impossible to tell where the edits were made. Great work!

Some mixed feelings about the tone of the b/w. Might've been my setup, but it felt a touch unsaturated and slightly, slightly, just a bit, blue-tinted. Again, might've been my setup. Otherwise this edit is great! A good narrative that makes you wanna pop another bowl of popcorn. Replaces the original, no doubt.

Well done!
