Rogue is one of my favorite editors and once again he doesn't disappoint.
Rogue's become the indisputed champion of retro-styling modern movies and he's clearly at the top of his craft here. From his choice of filters to his perfectly placed editing "glitches" taken from the era he's emulating, to his amazing folley work and brilliant use of music; this is an incredible achievement and to me the standout of the Time Travel Consecution. But more than anything, it's pure fun.
I took a point off "Enjoyment" because I'm jealous of Rogue's talent and it pissed me off as I was watching ithe short. But other than that, keep wowing us with your amazing creations.
Audio/Video Quality: 9
For SD it's as good as it gets. Mmmmm lovely grain.
Visual Editing: 10
Spectacular. Condensing all these scenes into one seemless flow was impressive. The attention to period details like the titles and transitions was very slick. It was felt so authentic.
Audio Editing: 9
So much work has gone into this. The SoundFX all felt vintage too. The music removal from dialogue isn't perfect at times but it's near impossible to get clean.
The edit was genuinely more thrilling than the original film and the condensed story was easy to follow.
I need more random serial chapters from Mr Rogue, even if they are standalone things like this. So much fun.
This was very fun to watch. The integration at the end was really great. The old footage integrated into the windows sold very well, I bought it! I found the bit of Captain America jumping out and falling quite hilarious, I was all smiles after that till the end.
The cuts were good, the audio was great. The integration of alternative old films was superb and well chosen. Highly enjoyable and recommended.
Brilliant adaptation as classic cliffhanger chapter!
Black and white rendering is not overly crisp, music syncs nicely to action.
Roger Ramjet did this a few years ago with a Raiders Of The Lost Ark serial.
This is absolutely stellar, however!
Would that the entire film could be given this treatment. Or at least add on some of the Avenger sections without the superhero manboy worship.
My only issue is that the narrative leaves me breathlessly waiting.
Hey, and where’s that retro Star Wars thingy, Rogue?
