Absolutely brilliant! This is the B-movie midnight TV flick version. Billy was a necessary addition to elevate this largely one dimensional screenplay to the big screen. On first viewing his fate was hard-hitting, and added no end to 'The Mists' theme of the looming indifference of apocalyptic disasters, yet became a disturbing bug-bear in a film with more than enough literal bug-bears already to be disturbed by. This plays so much better at home now.
Of note is the enhancement of the love interest, and the neighbour's attitude is now acceptable. He actually looks quite badass now instead of stiffass considering his distrust of the father seemed obtuse yet now suspicion towards the husband flirting with the housewife may be deemed perfectly reasonable. The ending hits-home in a less harrowing way at the same time as now being totally hopeless. Jason Flippy is barking up the right tree with his use of AI too. Cheers!
