In terms of its narrative, it is as much book-accurate as can be achieved.

The lighting of the beacons is a great idea for an opening scene. The thing is, although it should work in a narrative sense, the scene was done (in the original) to be kind of a climactic moment. So, when the film opens with this scene, it feels a bit out of place.

The Witch-King of Angmar not breaking Gandalf’s staff is a mandatory edit, well done. In the original, this event is even more out-of-place when we see Gandalf walking with his staff before sailing to Valinor.

Also, Frodo not contemplating suicide in Mount Doom makes much more sense. This was both a bit weird and it ruined the reveal, at the end, that Frodo needs to go to Valinor.

My only gripe here is visual quality, the lower resolution and low bit rate are really noticeable in some sections.
