Brief Synopsis:
The edit is made entirely from the idea of making it a good movie. Book accuracy is thrown out of the window if a cut is simply more clean without it. We have a plethora of incredible book accurate cuts, but I miss some of the added drama Peter Jackson sometimes correctly added.
Intention:
To challenge myself, and to complete the circle. There are now 6 Precious Editions.

What I aim to do is:
Cut humor that's excessive.
Keep humor that's cute.
If there is a scene with cringe and good quality (and there are a ton of those), remove the cringe, but keep the quality. This helps pacing and storytelling.

Cuts and Additions:
Added a nice film grain layer, which does not affect highlights as proper film grain should.
This is both a prequel AND a sequel to LotR. In the sense that you can watch it before, or after the LOTR trilogy.
Created a completely unique opening, with narration. Very story-telling like.
Removed Ragadast from part 1, but kept a small glimpse as Gandalf mentions him.
Removed every early appearance from Azog before his reveal. It makes no sense to SHOW him, when the dwarves think he is dead. Way to ruin your own story, P.J.
Now I hear you cry: Why not remove him entirely? Simple. We, the audience need a nemesis. And, because I believe I can completely salvage Azog as a villain by
removing most of his ugly CGI appearances. The eagles confrontation has him looking a lot better than every other scene in the film.
Also, Bilbo and Thorin reconciling is desperately needed for some emotional pay-off.
Completely re-edited the Goblin King introduction. He is now more ruthless, and doesn't sing a song. He also doesn't interrogate the dwarves, but simply wants to torture
them for his amusement.
He mentions Azog, but does not send word for the pale Orc. This to keep the mystery of wether he is taunting Thorin or not.
Completely re-edited the Troll encounter to keep some light hearted humor, but improve pacing and remove some of the annoying screams from the high pitched troll.
Removed Ragast, but kept the Warg attack. How? Just watch the edit and find out.
Regraded the Azog attacks scene to ever so slightly make the transition from day to night a bit slower. It's still a bit fast, but definitely not as distracting.
The white council is now far more mysterious and less in your face. We don't need a journey if you're going to spell everything out here.
Some slight tweaks here and there for pacing/dialogue improvements.

This is so far my favorite version of the movie. It is put together expertly. While i enjoy the theatrical cut and wasn't that bothered by the sillier stuff, because i accepted that the Hobbit is lighter and more oriented towards a younger audience than lotr. It always felt to me like watching the extended cut, which is why i assume they couldn't add much running time to the actual extended version. This edit brings the movie down to a more appropriate running time, while also making it feel more mature. And importantly it doesn't feel rushed, its a journey not a sprint.

A month back I watched Wraiths roughly 4 hour Legendary edit of the Hobbit trilogy and while I enjoyed the edit for being more closer to the book, I felt the movies pace was little to fast missing a lot of moments Jackson had in which we got to breath and flesh out the characters. Fortunately I think I found the edit I was looking for.
DonkeyKonga's edit not only trims the fat but keeps a lot of what made The Hobbit movie enjoyable for me he stated he wasn't trying to be like the book he just wanted a better movie which I am all for Jacksons version of Rings wasn't exactly book accurate,
The pacing is just right nothing feels bloated or over long with some improvements: the redone opening not only fits the tone better its a nice wink to the book. Putting Azog the white orc at the end makes for a good surprise, Radagast being a small cameo works better here his character was kind of annoying. The silly scenes in the goblin caves are gone keeping in tone with Rings and not undercutting the action scenes.
I only encountered two very small nitpick edits they are noticeable but didn't hurt my enjoyment one was after the trolls scene we get a chase scene to Rivendale we see Gandalf behind a rock run with the dwarves out in the field then smash cut to behind another rock telling everyone to keep going. 2nd was the goblin king introduction we see him in the distance dancing about to suddenly in your face demanding questions. Those are my only problems and they are negligible at best I look forward to watching the precious cut Desolation of Smaug next. Congrats DonkeyKonga this is my favorite cut of the movie.

The prologue narration is great, it really adds to the feeling and the new tone (a huge difference from the original).
Changing Radagast’s intro to a small cameo worked very well.
The shortening of the troll’s scene was done perfectly, this was dragged in the original, with terrible pacing. Btw, “lay down your arms, or we’ll rip his off” is a kind of a clever line, but it just doesn’t make any sense being spoken by a supposedly “stupid” mountain troll.
The warg chase section is also great.
The removal of the many “goofy comedy” bits in the goblin chase works, and the cuts are nicely done here.
The Azog reveal works much better like this, nice one.
What a great (new) ending: the slow movement in the direction of Erebor and the sound of the thrush’s little wings, this is a much better way to forebode about Smaug, much more subtle and more effective because of that. Great editing choice here!
Congrats for all this work! I’ve seen a few edits of The Hobbit, including 3-to-1 film and 3-to-2 films edits. In terms of maintaining the original 3-film structure while improving pretty much all there is to improve, this is my go-to version.
Disclaimer: I’ve watched DonkeyKonga’s trilogy before release, and made a few (minor) suggestions to the author that ended up in the final version. My review is not changed by that, though.
