Very sound edit of the Constantine movie. Enjoyed the re-addition of the cut scenes and I could argue for or against keeping them in the final cut of the movie. I would say this version may replace my theatrical version. Well worth the time it took to acquire and watch. Thanks Jorge for creating this.

PS. Tried to keep this review brief because I didn't want to create spoilers, but I will say this, if you enjoyed Constantine YOU MUCH WATCH THIS. I was surprised by the scenes that were cut from the original version. Their removal was probably due to two things. 1) There is a scene which is borderline inappropriate for kids, which could have made their MPAA rating something less family friendly. 2) Could see the possibilities where early reviewers/audiences may have panned that additional story line. I personally it helps the movie.

I rather enjoyed this edit. While the video quality wasn't very good (even accounting for the fact it's from a DVD), the narrative and audio make up for it.

I actually kind of liked the original, but I missed absolutely nothing that Jorge cut in this version. The stuff about the staff wasn’t important. Adding in him having sex with the demon, that was important. (At least I don’t recall that being in the original.) I think this version is better than the original. If forced to give a rating I’d give it a 4 or 5 out of 5.

If I watch the movie again, it will be this version.

Three cheers for Jorge. He really went to town and his “Hellblazer” is a very strong fanedit of “Constantine”. I’ll have to go back to my copy of the original for comparison, but this may be the better cut of the film! No mean achievement. I like the addition of the subtitles during the club scene though it would have been nice had the voices been louder. i.e. just barely audible instead of completely buried in the music. I rather like the idea of Ellie and JC conversing in some other ancient “hellish” language (Tolkien’s Elvish might have worked too for a nicely geeky-yet-demonic touch since it’s a fully-functioning language). Still, providing the grit of their conversation was a good idea. Unlike JCPRuckus I had no problem with the two Evanescence tunes added to the soundtrack. I found them to work very well in the context of the mood of “Hellblazer”. Good choices IMO though the Dutch prog-metal band The Gathering might have been even better given the gothic-horror-novel feel of their 90s albums. Like joebshmoe I also didn’t miss the insect monster encounter. “Hellblazer” is definitely a fanedit I shall point others towards and one I will watch again next time I’m in the mood for an occult/action hybrid.

I just finished watching HELLBLAZER and it seems I am turning into a JORGE fan. This is one great fanedit. To me it is a vast improvement over the original, much darker, much better, not at all embarrassing (which I found the original was). From start to finish I was very well entertained, the movie has a good flow and pace to it and it is much more about Constantine than the original.

What I didn’t like so much: the sex scene didn’t add anythign to me, although it was well exectued and I didn’t like the subtitled bar part. This one lasted too long for me and since this subtitling was nowhere else in the movie it felt misplaced to me. I could have doen without both these scenes. Still: Bravo!!!
