I wanted to love this original movie so much, but the detracting plot narratives, not to mention the constant cutting away from the action for characters that were ultimately meaningless dulled my enjoyment and despite liking the movie, I felt it didn’t reach its potential.

This edit completely solves that for me. Honestly, I will probably never watch the unedited form again and this is my go-to way to experience this movie from now on. It’s a brisk watch at 80 minutes with credits, which is kinda perfect for me. Nothing of the story is lost at all, which is really more of a reflection on how superfluous so much of it was to begin with.

The Mecha-Godzilla boot-up sequence is about as good as it could possibly be, considering how that plays out in the original, and everything else felt seamless the whole way through. I definitely recommend this version and only wish I had found it sooner.
