Ok, I just watched this one. I liked it.
Couple of weird sound transitions (music stops strangely right before the cut “football” fight scene for example), but nice overall.
There is of course still cheese in this edit, but it is Flash Gordon the movie… Cheese is part of it. And it is now just the right amount of it.
The color “correction” was a nice touch. Maybe a bit too much “flashy” red (made my eyes a bit tired by the end). Perhaps a bit of desaturation would have been nice.
The pace is excellent and it was a good nostalgia trip to watch this movie purged of the fat.
Maybe not a replacement disc for me, but worths a look.

This review is based on my opinions and my personal veiwing experience, nothing is meant as an attack. Spoiler warning.

I Think Havok has achieved what he set out to do, wich is make a leaner, meaner, Flash Gordon edit! I noticed one audio glitch but nothing that ruined the experience. I REALLY wish that the opening starfield shot (from superman?) would have blended in smoother with the opening credits because the combination of the movies score/starfield image is just PERFECT, and i think it is more than possible to achive this with some AVIsynth trickery.

8/10

SIDE NOTES: Right on Havok, keep it up!
