Escape From New York Extended

This Extended Version just adds the story of how Plinskin was caught
It doesn't add much to the story and the movie is better without this side story since it makes Plinskin more mysterious.
The visual quality of those scenes isn't good, and the rest of the movie was also downgraded to 720x480 resolution

On the other hand, this is more from escape from New York so I enjoyed it

4.Ok, when I listened to the commentary for the deleted scene (on my store bought dvd), Carpenter said he didn’t like the scene because it makes Plisken less of a badass. Plisken is supposed to be a selfish S.O.B who doesn’t care about anyone but himself (friends are here today and gone tomorrow in his book). This extra scene shows that Plisken “has a heart” and I think it works well in the movie. I think this will be the only version I’ll be watching from now on. Funny how MGM couldn’t do a “branching” dvd so this extra scene could be seen in the movie. Good thing we have talented people like Tranzor. Great stuff.

I missed this on the first go around back in 2008 and when it resurfaced this year, I was beyond happy. Sure, the A/V quality can't hold up today's standards but this this an all-time classic extended edition. Simple in concept, perfect in execution.
