The first time I saw The Departed, it seemed rather long. Neg’s cut, despite being a little over two hours, is paced just right.
One of the issues with the theatrical cut is the bland symmetry of introducing the respective moles. Really, it doesn’t have to be done that way, and Neglify doesn’t. The decision to reveal Costello’s mole at a later point in the story improves the suspense.
This cut is tight and on-point, my preferred version of The Departed.
