This is something I wished I seen first before the original. It seem to add more suspence and to what happening. Also pushes more on the thriller genre. Only one thing I would make diffent. Going into and out of the flashback would had like a small transition like a flash into it. If u never seen childs play this in one of those rare times I'd watch this edit first.

This is a new way to watch Child´s Play and for that only is a great edit. I still prefer the original cut, but Dwight Fry does a great job here. I grew up with Child´s Play and saw it a hundred times and watching this edit made me feel like I was watching the movie for the first time. From little things like the new credits matching the originals and looking extremely professional to bigger things (the whole new structure of the film) everything works great. The only "flaw" (If I can call it this way) is that I felt the flashback happened without a more clear build up. But it´s understandable because he hadn´t more scenes available to use. Anyway, it´s a great edit and a new way to watch Child´s Play! If you a fan of the original movie you should watch this fanedit!

My only issue with it was the flashback. I would've preferred a cut of Billy Ray performing the ritual on the doll (Norris doesn't see him do this) and kept the audio, lightening, and explosion of the ritual. We see him attempt to perform the ritual later on Andy. I really liked all the "new" set-ups, with Charles Lee Ray being mentioned repeatedly on the news. Not really new, but with the beginning switched to a later flashback, they end up being set-ups to a pay-off later. As is, it is a superior cut to the studio edit.

Other than that, the only other issue is something that can't be fixed and that's a missed opportunity in the script for some further set-up, pay-off, and a bit of character development from Detective Norris. Earlier in the film, Andy tells Karen that the doll's name is Charles Lee Ray, and I wish Andy had repeated this in the police station later. This could've activated Norris' path earlier, and it would've been nice to see him do some sleuthing that would've teased out his flashback encounter with human Chucky and get him in doll Chucky's sights in a very natural way.

Well how can I say it.. this edit just became one of my favourite movies of all time!

Previous to watching the edit, I remembered Child's Play as a kind of a silly, so-so horror movie that I still enjoyed because I like 80's and 90's horror movies in general.

I noticed this edit's existence by chance, and watched it just out of curiosity. But it really grabbed my interest from early on, and the suberb editing and pacing kept me interested until the very end!

Only after watching the edit I checked out the editing details information, to try and remember the original as well as understand if the edit itself made the movie great, or if the changes were not significant. I was pleasantly surprised to see that indeed, as I remembered, the original sounded a bit silly compared to the excellent edit that I had just watched.

Thank you!!
