Brief Synopsis:
A journey into the darkness at the heart of man. Now with less French people.
Intention:
Apocalypse Now is a masterpiece (duh), and one of my all-time favourite movies. I've seen both the theatrical cut and the Redux cut a few times now, and my opinion on the Redux cut is positive. There's some great, subtle new material included that really fits perfectly with the rest of the film, but I'm not a huge fan of the infamous French plantation sequence. It adds some nice historical context to Vietnam and social commentary on how losing Vietnam could drive America crazy as a country, but it makes the pacing grind to a halt and feels tonally out of place. And that's before the second half of the sequence decides to suddenly become a romance scene with terribly cheesy music before swiftly moving on, the events of the sequence never being mentioned again.
So I solved that problem. That sequence is now removed, whilst all the other additions are kept in place. Some would argue that the new Playboy Bunnies scene feels out of place too, and I agree it sticks out from the rest of the movie. But at least it's a rather brief scene, and the atmosphere and themes are in check with the rest of the film, so I decided to keep it.

Special Features
No extra features available as I don't think much can be said on this rather minor edit of Apocalypse Now. Not planning to release it in any other formats, either, as IMO physical media is dying out, and digital files give you the most flexibility in deciding how to watch it.
Available in 720p/1080p with 5.1 surround sound audio.

It's not perfect but it's still a pretty good encode.
Visual Editing: 7
There are just two edits I believe but they are both invisible.
Audio Editing: 7
Again it's simple but well executed.
Narrative: 8
This is basically all the nice extra Redux pieces that everyone likes but without the French-Plantation scene that everyone hates.
Enjoyment: 8
I still think the original Thatrical cut is perfectly paced in the way it builds up and the Redux scenes interupt this by getting too mad, too soon but when I feel the need to see those great extra scenes then this fanedit is the way to go.
