Wraith's fanedit of Alien: Covenant not only expands on the original storyline of the cinema cut, it also takes it in a new direction. The inclusion of a prologue that links this movie to the previous film (Prometheus), shows Dr. Shaw and David working together on the Engineer's "Juggernaut" spacecraft. This makes David's psychopathic behaviour towards her, later in the Covenant film, all the more horrifying. Also, the crew training and selection montage explores the subtleties of the personalities of the principal characters prior to their interactions with each other.

Spoiler Number 1: The main alteration of the film - the one that completely changes the storyline - occurs mid-way through the movie. As the survivors of the initial exploration team walks through the centre of the city, they pass a large circular opening in the ground. One of the team throws a flare into the hole, and the illumination reveals several Juggernaut spacecraft parked into recessed alcoves (undeground hangar bays). This single [deleted] scene conveys the information that David had not been marooned on the planet for the previous ten years. He lied to the exploration team - in reality, David could have departed from the Engineer's planet whenever he wished. He remained on the planet because he actually wanted to stay there... he was simply waiting for the right moment to leave... and this is also expanded in Spoiler Number 2.

Spoiler Number 2: The last five minutes of the movie reveals David's strategic plan. He was waiting for the opportunity to gather more "raw material" to continue his genetic experiments - so that he could create his "queen" (presumably in Ridley Scott's next movie). He was also waiting for the right time to prepare the bait for the Weyland Corporation (the entity that continued Mr Weyland's legacy). David's pathological hatred of Mr Weyland (his father) motivates him to create the "xenomorph" (the name of the horrific creatures in the Alien movies). After David seizes control of the Covenant, he sends a transmission to the Weyland Corporation so as to lure the greedy senior management of the conglomerate into a trap, with the ultimate goal of destroying all trace of Mr Weyland, even if it means having to annihilate humanity itself - this then becomes the original Alien film franchise (Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Alien Resurrection).

Wraith's fanedit is thus more than just a "reinterpretation" of the original Covenant film, it is an entirely new narrative altogether. The various other deleted scenes that have been re-integrated throughout the movie only serve to enhance this new story even further. This begs the question - what the hell was Ridley Scott thinking when he removed all of these scenes from the original cinema cut?

Regardless of Mr Scott's intentions, this fanedit version is a masterpiece...

Well done Wraith. Once again, you have proven the value of the FanEdit website, and the value of artistic dedication.

Wraith did an excellent job here! Editing is perfect, and for Alien fans, this is the ultimate watching experience! This edit includes the extended scenes incorporated into the movie in a very professional way, plus extra material and promotional videos, placed right where they belong! This is really a treat!

Being a massive fan of the franchise since the first Alien came out and of pretty much all of Ridley Scotts work I was anxious before watching this that it would miss Ridleys "touch" so to speak.
It did not, it only enhanced the original cut.
I thought Covenant was a great film but felt it was missing something fundamental in its storytelling.
So pleased and impressed of how Wraith managed to make this in my opinion complete version of the film,
Really cool also how the original Alien soundtrack was included so effectively, (in my opinion one of the best soundtracks of all time)
All in all a tremendous feature and I highly recommend this to everyone
Would love to see what Wraith could do with Prometheus as the fanedits I have watched so far leaves something to be desired
Hats off and a 10gold stars!!!!

Well I'll keep it short because i am not a native speaker:

I loved watching this Extended Cut a lot!

What a remarkable clarity the whole plot gains, when the deleted "fear-testing sequences" were included again as the first chapter of a trilogy!
Maybe olde Ridley Scott would like his original Alien Covenant more "riddly" - to make his nomen an omen, who knows;)
But for me, Wraith's extended version of the plot simply "makes more sense" :-)

So thanks a lot for all the effort you put into this really impressive opus!

K
