Brief Synopsis:
Goals:
On first watch I loved this movie, so I didn’t change much... just to fix that ending, and to make the end more in line with her character in BvS - that these heroes are awesome but mankind is questionable.

Main Changes:
• Distance this version of Wonder Woman’s origin story from writer Azzarello's New 52 retcon where Wonder Woman is the child of Zeus and Hephaestus, restoring Wonder Woman's made-from-clay origin in the end.

• Make Diana seem less naïve about some basic things like marriage and hand-holding.

• Diminish the role of Dr. Poison to simply a lackey of the General, so her Act 3 disappearance less important (Dr. Poison falls into the easy trope that suggests disability — and in this case, specifically facial disfigurement — means that a character is evil. We never find out Dr. Poison’s backstory and whether her facial scarring caused her to become a villain or happened after she already was one, but the message is the same- we should be afraid of people whose faces and bodies are different from our own.)

• Remove much of the exposition and the Dr. Poison confrontation from the final battle.

• Avoid the strange paradoxical elements from the final Act (i.e. soldiers hugging after the defeat of Ares.)

• Make the end of WW less optimistic, more in line with MoS and BvS that these heroes are awesome but mankind is questionable.
Intention:
At my first viewing I loved this movie, so I didn’t change much... just that ending. But considering how much I altered DoJ Pts 1&2, I really tried to address as many criticisms as possible as I do with all of my edits.

I fell down a rabbit hole of research, and found many valid criticisms with the movie. The following are the results of the fixes I thought were possible to make.
Additional Notes:
This will close out my DCEU edits. All are done with an extreme amount of love for the classic characters, and hopefully within canon of ZSJL release. They all try to unify the cinematic universe and remove scenes that show our heroes out of character (that is familiar to Gen X at least,) all cringe-worthy moments, and plot holes that can be addressed. I really love the DC characters and the DoJ trilogy has been my passion project. *2022 Update** Now in 5.1 Audio with full subtitles

Goals:
Love this movie, so I didn’t change much... just that ending to make the end less optimistic, more in line with her character in BvS and that these heroes are awesome but mankind is questionable.

Main Changes:
• Distance this version of Wonder Woman’s origin story from writer Azzarello's disrespectful New 52 retcon where the Amazons aren’t powerful immortals, but actually have sex with sailors to keep their ranks and sell the male children to Hephaestus for weapons. Azzarello’s run only lasted for three years, with the character only regaining the respect she deserves thanks to the team of writer Greg Rucka and artists Nicola Scott and Liam Sharp, whose returned Wonder Woman to the made-from-clay origin, and the Amazons are now the complex, peace-loving sisterhood.
• Make Diana seem less naïve about some basic things like marriage and hand-holding.
• Diminish the role of Dr. Poison to simply a lackey of the General so her Act 3 disappearance less important
• Remove much of the exposition and the Dr. Poison confrontation from the final battle. (Dr.
• Make the end of WW less optimistic, more in line with MoS and BvS that these heroes are awesome but mankind is questionable.
Cuts and Additions:
Cut List:
• Intro credits remove DC Heroes intro. Ratpac logo starts, then copper WB and DC logos from trailer added at half speed.
• Movie begins with Diana as a child. (the intention being that starting the movie from the POV of a child allows for a greater suspension of belief.)
• Trimmed history of the gods to remove mention of Amazon’s creation to bring love to humans (only to try to distance this edit from writer Azzarello's disrespectful New 52 retcon where Wonder Woman is the child of Zeus and Hephaestus, and the Amazons aren’t powerful immortals but actually have sex with sailors to keep their ranks and sell the male children to Hephaestus for weapons. Azzarello’s run only lasted for three years, with the character only regaining the respect she deserves thanks to the team of writer Greg Rucka and artists Nicola Scott and Liam Sharp, who returned Wonder Woman to the made-from-clay origin and the Amazons to the complex sisterhood that has charmed audiences for generations.)
• Removed mention of Zeus helping to defend the Amazons in flashback to make Ares simply destroy the gods inevitably.
• Trimmed Diana bracelet scene to remove one apology
• Remove Steve saying the lasso of truth is hot
• Removed Steve calling Dr. Poison ‘psychotic”
• Moved and trimmed Dr. Poison and General Ludendorff destroying the gas mask to Steve’s flashback.
• Removed shot of Steve removing Dr. Poison’s book, cuts straight to Dr. Poison noticing its gone
• Trimmed Steve and Diana infirmary scene to remove doc remarking “strange” at Diana’s healing, and removed Diana glancing below the belt and a naked Steve to seem less distracted, and removed her asking “what is a watch” and Steve’s reference back to it.
• Trimmed Diana and Hippolyta discussion at the beach
• Trimmed Steve and Diana boat discussion to remover her not knowing about marriage
• Trimmed Dr. Poison line “its going to be terrible”
• Removed Steve and Diana hand holding dialogue
• Adjusted Diana translating Dr. Poison’s journal to have her say “It’s a formula… hydrogen-based gas…” (to remove her calling it a new kind of gas, and remarking how it differs from mustard gas)
• Removed Dr. Poison tossing gas mask and watching the officers die
• Removed Dr. Poison and General Ludendorff laughing about giving a mask to the dying officers
• Removed Diana remarking how close Steve is when dancing
• Trimmed Diana getting dress for gala to remove the woman weirdly walking into the woods
• Trimmed Steve flirting with Dr. Poison to remove him asking about her project, and Dr. Poison laughing at him. Now he just gets distracted and loses his chance.
• Trimmed Sir Patrick saying “I am not what you thought I was”
• Removed Sir Patrick telling Diana “only a god can kill another god” and that she is the daughter of Zeus and Hippolyta. Now she is simply “the god killer” as foretold.
• Removed shots of Dr. Poison at military base
• Trimmed Sir Patrick exposition to remove his flashback that shows his godly form with the mustache and is line “I am not the God of War, I am the God of Truth. Mankind stole this world from us, they ruined it day by day. And I, the only one wise enough to see it, was left too weak to stop them.” “All I do is orchestrate an armistice that I know they cannot keep in the hopes that they will destroy themselves. But is was never enough, until you.”
• Removed shot of both Ares and Diana floating
• Diana's flashback where she can hear Steve is put into chronological order
• Removed confrontation with Dr. Poison and Diana defeating German soldiers hand-to-hand in a rage.
• Moved the guys destroying the munitions building to just before Steve dies, so that’s what he is looking back at from the pilots chair.
• Trimmed Diana and Ares final fight dialogue a bit to make Ares defeat seem inevitable.
• The defeat of Aries doesn’t result in soldiers putting their weapons down and everyone being friends. Instead it simply cuts to the end of the war, more vague on why.
• Present day intro scenes moved to end, intro monologue shortened and used as end monologue.
• Added logo close.

Well Wakeupkeo is currently 3 for 3 in better cuts of the DCEU after finishing Wonder Woman hard truths I now want to see Keo's Justice League and Aquaman edits. There wasn't much I thought needed changing in Wonder Woman except the ending but Keo's trimming once again works wonders and improves the narrative Dr Poison role being reduced was a good call. The ending has drastically improved with only one minor edit where we go from Diana trapped in blue hues to sudden red and fire everywhere. But the biggest fix to me was to the Gods backstory and Diana's birth I read in your changes you wanted to be more in line with her original origin rather than the terrible New 52 take thank you for this. I have nothing but high praise much like MOS and BVS this now my definitive edit of the movie. My hats off to you Wakeupkeo.

I've never actually seen the original cut of this film, so I don't have anything to compare this to. But I didn't notice anything that I could tell was fan-edited, so that's good. Now I feel ready to watch the Snyder Cut! Thanks Wakeupkeo!

Finishing 3/3 of the Dawn of Justice trilogy. I really liked the 2017 WW movie a lot. I like this edit more. These three movies, with the way WakeUpKeo has structured them shows what WB was missing in their cinematic adventure. An over arching eye of continuity. I like many of Snyders movies, but feel that possibly (be it c-level interference or a lack of eye for detail when dealing with this scope of things) the DC Movies are not well received due to that. The movies don't feel like they fit together, but with WakeUpKeos edits, these three movies all feel on the same world/universe. It then becomes more realistic having these three beings interact.

The Dawn of Justice trilogy is at this moment in time my goto for this arc of that story. The pacing is great, not only within each part of the trilogy, but between the different parts as well. WakeUpKeo does truly have a talent for story beats, pacing, fluff trimming, etc. I highly recommend this trilogy, especially if someone hasn't seen these movies before.

As a fan of both Wonder Woman and the Justice League franchise, I was thrilled to come across the fan edit "Wonder Woman: Dawn of Justice Part 3 - The Hard Truths Edit" on the popular fan edit database, IFDB. This particular fan edit, created by Wakeupkeo, aims to streamline and enhance the narrative of the original film, and it does so with remarkable finesse.

One of the standout features of this fan edit is its ability to maintain a coherent and engaging storyline. Wakeupkeo skillfully trims down certain scenes that were unnecessary or detracted from the main plot, resulting in a more focused and impactful viewing experience. The pacing is noticeably improved, allowing the narrative to flow smoothly without any unnecessary detours or pacing issues. It's evident that Wakeupkeo took great care to create a cohesive and captivating story.

The visual and audio editing in this fan edit are also praiseworthy. Seamless transitions, clever use of visual effects, and skillful audio adjustments contribute to the overall immersive experience. The editor's attention to detail is evident in every frame, ensuring that the visual and audio elements work harmoniously to enhance the storytelling.

Furthermore, "The Hard Truths Edit" successfully addresses some of the criticisms leveled at the original film. The character development of Wonder Woman is given more prominence, and her arc feels more complete and emotionally resonant. Additionally, certain subplots are trimmed or altered, resulting in a tighter narrative that focuses on the core themes and conflicts.

However, it is worth noting that this fan edit is not without its flaws. At times, the editing choices can feel slightly abrupt, particularly for viewers who are familiar with the original film. While the intent is to create a streamlined experience, some scenes might feel rushed or lacking in context. Nevertheless, these minor issues do not overshadow the overall quality and effectiveness of this fan edit.

"Wonder Woman: Dawn of Justice Part 3 - The Hard Truths Edit" is a testament to the creativity and skill of fan editors. It breathes new life into a film that had its share of weaknesses, elevating it to a more satisfying and impactful viewing experience. Fans of Wonder Woman and the Justice League franchise will undoubtedly appreciate the improvements made in this fan edit.

In conclusion, if you are a fan of Wonder Woman or simply interested in exploring the world of fan edits, "The Hard Truths Edit" is a commendable effort that offers an engaging and more refined version of the film. While it may not be a flawless endeavor, it demonstrates the passion and talent of the editor and is certainly worth a watch.

Oh man, I think Keo must be tired of seeing my name in his edits! In all seriousness, he is one of my favorite faneditors and I have watched the majority of his edits, especially the superhero ones.

Wonder Woman was one of those films that I really enjoyed, moustache Ares and classic 3rd act CGI fest notwithstanding. But I thought that something definitely could be done to improve the movie, although I haven't figured out what exactly, but Keo and the other faneditors did that for me!

At first, this was about to be my go-to version for the WW movie, although I did not enjoy it as much as I'd liked to, but then I saw the 1918 version from TinyBreadMouse and that one immediately clicked with me. But I'll talk about that in length at my review.

This one was pretty great! First of all, as always, the cuts were phenomenal! I could not tell you if something was cut if my life depended on it! Wakeupkeo's work is always top notch and I am always happy to watch one of his edits because I know I will watch something of outstanding quality.

Most of the changes were spot on, especially the trimming of the humor. I also liked the removal of soldiers hugging and the generally less optimistic approach, plus some of the trimming of Dr. Poison, but not all. Props for cutting the scene where we see Steve taking the Dr. Poison's notebook, it was unnecessary. We figured out that he got it when he saw it and then was holding it when he started running!

On the other hand, I thought he removed too much of the Dr. Poison subplot and also the intro of the movie did not quite work for me, I personally did not have a problem with the Diana-made-of-clay approach and the God killer weapon. Also, although it was pretty clever to put the intro scene in present day at the end, I believe it was more fitting to end the movie with the photograph of the group or even the photograph of Steve. It would actually be an even more "less optimistic" ending, since this was the goal. And not only less optimistic, but also touching.

Overall, I definitely suggest this edit over the original movie, but for me, it will not be my go-to version. I prefer the 1918 edit, although it also had some minor problems.

Thank you Wakeupkeo for all your hard work and thanks to anyone who read my review!
