This fanedit is as good as Bacon-Wrapped Smokies.

Prep Time: 45 Min
Cook Time: 45 Min
Ready In: 1 Hr 30 Min

Ingredients

1 pound sliced bacon, cut into thirds
1 (14 ounce) package beef cocktail wieners
3/4 cup brown sugar, or to taste

Directions

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
Refrigerate 2/3 of the bacon until needed. It is easier to wrap the wieners with cold bacon.
Wrap each cocktail wiener with a piece of bacon and secure with a toothpick. Place on a large baking sheet. Sprinkle brown sugar generously over all.
Bake for 40 minutes in the preheated oven, until the sugar is bubbly. To serve, place the wieners in a slow cooker and keep on the low setting.

War of the Stars 2 - The Future in Motion is another stellar fan edit from Mask, which only suffers because its inevitable comparision to its predecessor, War of the Stars.

In the original, Mask's heavy use of degraded footage allowed for the inclusion of imperfect video and sound in all editing choices and extra footage. Here, a more serious attempt at filmmaking is approached so when extra footage is markedly bad, it is jarring, not charming.

This film also suffers due to it's run time. Yes, the original movies all hover at about 2 hours. But here, the narrative has too many crests and valleys as it transitions from the Episode 5 material to Episode 6.

These complaints though, are really the only substaintial faults that can be leveled against this. Outside of them, the film is amazing.

Mask has done a brilliant job weaving dialog, scenes and nearly 100 unique special effects shots to create yet another ingenious reimagining of Star Wars. Suprises present themselves from its opening sequence all the way to the closing moments of the movie. This is truly indicative of the magic that comes with fan editing as scenes we're all familiar with become innudated with new meaning. I imagine that had Lucas had the same ideas Mask has had, maybe we'd have a different Star Wars altogether.

Like War of the Stars, this film isn't meant to replace one's OT of Star Wars, but it is a must-have compliment to it.

I know that, 6 or so years from now, looking back at Episodes 7, 8 and 9, I'll be thinking about what creative spin Mask is going to mold out of it all. And...I'll be looking forward to watching it!

War of the Stars II is a worthy sequel to TMBTM's hilarious first edition. It has hilarious twists and turns, shockingly funny special effects sequences, and some hilarious dialogue. If you haven't seen the first War of the Stars, watch it first then come see this, they will be both worth your while.

Technical stuff:
This time around, TMBTM opted not to go for the grindhouse look for this movie, but deleted/alternate footage is much easier to spot due to the sudden drop in video quality, this of course is not the editor's fault, but still is a little bothersome. The audio also seems quite choppy when it comes to dialogue battling the musical score.

So many good things going on here. I thought the last part was the best, some mind blowing awesomeness going on, story-wise and editing wise. A real treat, just for us.

I think a rating should be based on everything about the edit, and not everything is perfect, not because the editor fails, but because this material can’t be perfect. Can’t rate the final product higher than 8/10.

Highly recommended, I know I’ll be watching this again.

Update sep 9 2012

With the new rating categories, this can be judged in a different manner. Enjoyment up to 9.

When I first saw this edit several months ago, I must confess that I was rather nonplussed by it. The original Star Wars trilogy is so masterful in its plot structure that this mash-up of EMPIRE and JEDI seemed nearly heretical to me. And as enjoyable as it was to see the deleted scenes from the Blu-ray in this film, they did slow down the overall pacing of the edit.

However, as time passes, my respect for WotS II has only increased, even as my opinion of other fan edits remains unchanged. There's so much creativity and imagination brimming from this release, it's impossible not to love.

While many fan edits are attempts to correct errors in the film, as with the many prequel edits, this film plays simply as a "What if?" This is what a Star Wars sequel might have looked like in an alternate universe.

As such, The Man Behind the Mask expertly weaves in footage from the other movies, such as REVENGE OF THE SITH, to create a wholly different viewing experience. He even adds in his own special effects to help tell the story, with astonishingly believable results (that is, it looks like this is the way the movie was supposed to play in the first place).

His alternate version of what happened to Darth Vader after the Death Star; his variation on the Wampa attack; the alternate arrival at Dagobah; his version of the tree vision; the way the scene *actually* plays out in his version; Luke's temptation in the Emperor's throne room; and the corker twist at the end -- every part of those scenes is a work of genius.

If you're a fan of STAR WARS, by all means check out this alternate take. It's a remix that you won't soon forget.
