I really enjoyed this version of The Walking Dead. When one thinks about 93 minutes being cut out, you’d think a major portion of the story is gone, but that just isn’t so. If you haven’t seen this (I know you need to own the DVDs), I’d say this is the version to watch.

ABOUT THE CUTS: My wife (who has also watched the entire series with me) and I both thought the cuts were perfectly done as far as material being left out. Shortly after what would have been the third episode, I mentioned to her about “Ed” being cut and we both agreed that it was not only not noticeable, but obviously a good cut since the story didn’t miss a beat.

I personally think even more could have been cut, but I couldn’t give you specifics as to where I make them. In a TV series, you’re going to have a lot of drama mixed in with a little action, but the editor managed to keep things moving. Nice job.

TECHNICAL: I’m completely unqualified to make an expert comment, but as a casual observer, I can say the cuts were smooth, the music (except one or two spots) was seamless.

OVERALL: This is the go-to for my second favorite series on TV right now. If it could be cut down to 200 or 220 minutes, I’d probably be even happier :)

Love the work. Keep it up!

I have been off work sick with a cold/cough and watched this in bed on my iPod classic. I cant make any comments about video and audio quality for obvious reasons, but as far as the editing of the story goes, this is perfect! Sorry I don’t have much to say, but I just really enjoyed the edit and don’t have any complaints!

9/10 in case I missed any flaws by not watching on a big screen.

A well made edit, but one that for my tastes has the same problem I find with the unedited show: with the exception of the season finale, the episodes are for the most part all chatter until at the end something exciting finally happens to get you to watch the next episode, which of course will repeat the same structure. The edit still has that episodic feel all through, despite having removed quite a few scenes that are not missed at all. Still, I find that more could have been trimmed for pacing, particularly in the camp segment and also the Latin gang: when their true nature is revealed, the fact that they pulled the gang card the way they did feels contrived, so cutting their "thugness" back might have worked.

Editing was for the most part well done, except for a couple fast dissolves that I felt could have worked better as straight cuts, such as after Rick's farewell to Morgan and son. The only odd thing audio-wise were a couple moments that had music start playing just to be ended after a few seconds (check the end of the Shane hospital flashback). It's properly crossfaded and doesn't feel abrupt or anything, but it feels like it shouldn't be there. A few seconds of audio replacement and recreated foley would have been preferable.

Thechnically, apart from the glitch that has already been mentioned, I noticed a couple of strange flash frames around the 2h10m30s mark (the corpse burning scene). I say strange because they don't come from removed shots, but from what appear to be removed parts of shots that stay.

As I say, a good edit but one that I think will appeal mainly to those who are already fans of the show, while I don't know if it will make many converts.

I had not seen any of Walking Dead before watching g1or's edit. But this was a fantastic introduction to the series. I am no stranger to TV-to-Movie fanedits (I've watched several and made one myself) and I realize what a difficult undertaking it is. To craft a single narrative arc out of something that is episodic in nature requires serious skill in both editing and storytelling. g1or manages to pull it off quite well.

The audio editing was invisible to me. The visual editing was ok but to nitpick just a bit some of the fade outs and ins were a bit abrupt but I understand that they were necessary for the edit. Other than that I don't have many complaints.

This edit left me wanting more. I had lots of questions after I finished. What happened to the guy who was handcuffed on the roof? What did the CDC guy whisper to the sheriff? etc.

I'm not usually a fan of zombie stuff but g1or's edit may have convinced me to start watching Walking Dead.

Nice work g1or!
