Unbreakable Glass Split

A perfect companion piece to the original edit Split Unbreakable Glass focusing more on the emotions/marriage/psychiatrist and using quite a lot of deleted scenes from what I could see. They were very well used and kept the movie feeling fresh even if you think you know the original trilogy! Like its forebear Split Unbreakable Glass, a masterpiece and must be watched once you have watched that edit. I only gave a 9 for enjoyment to reflect the fact that I preferred the original and its stronger focus on the comicbook characters and their interactions and motivations. Most people will give this a 10/10 for enjoyment I would imagine!

I finally got around to watching this edit after watching SUG about a year ago. This really does take a different narrative from the other film and is a great companion to SUG in every way. For instance, there isn't a single scene with Anya Taylor-Joy in UGS. This focuses on Kevin's alters' relationship with his psychiatrist for that end of the story. It was an excellent watch, only a couple things stuck out in my mind as I watched the film. There isn't much context to suggesting Kevin was shot twice. Also, the doctor's reveal at the end was missing something. It was just a bit too quick. Overall this is a worthwhile watch, and definitely recommend it if you had seen SUG. UGS can't exactly stand on it's own and needs to be propped up a bit with the other film.

Wraith consistently delivers good edits and makes some great choices when it comes to keeping the flow moving. This was a great companion to SUG in every way. As a set it's the definitive way to enjoy the Eastrail 177 trilogy. Thank you for all the work you put into this.

This was an extremely enjoyable fan edit to watch. Having seen all three of these movies several times, and with a deep love for Unbreakable since it came out, I was blown away by the merging of Split into the narrative of Unbreakable. The time jumps were handled so well that no title cards were needed.

As other reviewers have mentioned there were some very minor potholes, but they were in fact so minor that I didn't notice them until I read about them from another review. In that sense for me they didn't exist, and even after knowing about them they don't bother me.

Seeing new scenes mixed in with Unbreakable was really a treat. I had the DVD as a young teen and I loved watching the deleted scenes, so to see them so smoothly incorporated into the narrative here was really fantastic.

My only problem with this edit is the ending (having not seen SUG yet). It felt a bit abrupt, even though I really like the idea of ending the edit on David carrying his wife to bed in the afterlife. Maybe the credits scene with the clandestine organization could go in the mid-credits instead of the post-credits? It's a pretty important plot point that some people may miss. As it was when the credits started rolling I could help feeling unsatisfied. There was just a little more to the story that would have rounded it out perfectly for me.

All of this is to say that this is a monumental success! It actually managed to redeem Glass for me, which after the incredible movies that were Unbreakable and Split felt like a letdown. I have to compliment you on your great great work, and I will be viewing SUG soon!

Unbreakable, Split, and Glass have great ideas but they suffer from scenes that drag, over explanations and awkward pauses to the point that each one of them can be reduced significantly, but there is a wonderful story to tell, it is almost like these films request a fan edit. It would be a challenge however to keep the heart and soul of those movies by editing them.

Thus we get 2 fan edits - SUG and UGS and you will get more enjoyment from these films by watching one of these fan edits.
But which one to pick

SUG has the superior narrative but UGS (This Edit) is more enjoyable and better edited.

UGS focuses on the main story and throws most of the subplots which creates the most enjoyable experience you can have with these movies, but it accidentally creates some plotholes that you may not noticed on the first watch like "When did Kevin get shot with a shotgun?", "How does Elijah know about David's weakness?" etc....

I also don't like that we only hear about some of Kevin's split personalities but we only get to see them 1.5 hours after they are mentioned, " the plot of Split suffered the most from this edit.
The plot of Unbreakable is now better with the new removed scenes, but the origin story of Elijah shouldn't be cut, The second half of the movie focuses on the story from Glass is perfectly fine (considering the source material)

If you are looking for the most enjoyable version and don't care about plot holes this is the version for you.
Personally, it is my favorite out of the 2 but I still desire a version that removed more subplots and fixed some plot holes.

There are fine fanedits, good fanedits, excellent fanedits, and there are Wraith's. Just wow. I can hardly imagine the amount of effort and planning put into this gigantic edit to make it work so well.

I specially liked the way in which the Unbreakable and Split lines developed in parallel, and how the protagonists became selfaware of themselves in a similar, but also very different ways. The use of alternate sequences for Unbreakable that actually provide the same information as in the original movie but in a different context was also a great detail. I also liked the focus on the main character's psyche, rather than telling the story from others' point of view (the son or the kidnapped girl, in the original movies). The final part, which mostly belongs to Glass is the weakest segment but it is also because the original conclusion already felt too generic in comparison with the two former movies (the psychiatrist and the organization behind).

The edit is, as always, top notch. If it wasn't for the different cinematography (more analog for Unbreakable and more digital for Split/Glass), many sequences would feel like belonging to the same movie. As always, a great thanks to Wraith to entertain us with a great piece of work
