Brief Synopsis:
I want to focus on the story of the Titanic in 1912 - not the additional story set to 1997, and the sinking of the ship. I want to focus on the humanity. I want to focus on the brutality. And I want to put the tragedy in focus. I want us to see how the people - not just Jack and Rose, dealt with the disaster, and how the rich felt for the poor, and how the poor felt for the rich. There is so much kindness and humanity along with the brutality of this story, and much of it is in the narrative already - but overshadowed by the focus on Jack and Rose. And much of it is in the deleted scenes already.
Intention:
This edit was made to reshape The Titanic movie into something more heartfelt, sinister and to-the-point. I think this edit achieves just that.

A film I was a bit indifferent too when I first saw it for the first and only time a few years ago, but appreciated it more on watching again and can certainly see why it became such a juggernaut.

Whether this better reception is due to Andreas’ re-editing or otherwise I cannot be sure, apart from the “present day” storyline I didn’t notice any of the material either missing from or added to the narrative. The engineering enthusiast in me does miss the diving scenes though, and I must admit that the change to a straight narrative (as opposed to bookended and narrated) made it feel a touch less “epic”, but that would defeat the stated purpose of the edit.

The story does feel a quite overwrought at times too, but this film is not trying to be “A Night to Remember”, looking forward to see how other editors have tried reshaping the story. Perhaps krausfadr’s “Jack & Rose” then Q2’s “Extended Edition”, which (excluding combined works) might be the longest fan-edited film listed here, correct me if I’m wrong!

Found it on The Fanedit Network. It was an .m2t file of 16GB, but still the image quality wasn't perfect. I think it has something to do on my end though, because I'm not familiar with extension (although it played fine in Potplayer).

I love the original Titanic and don't find (m)any faults with it to begin with. It's also been a while since I've seen the original, so it's hard to say what exactly differs compared to this edit, but I can genuinely say I very much enjoyed this viewing and dropped tears as usual. There was maybe one instance where I noticed a cut, but otherwise this was flawless and can recommend everyone to watch this version.

Thank you so much, my friend. Greatly appreciated. An "Ultimate Edition" in 16/9 ("False Imax") is coming up, with a few new tweaks and improved audio (5.1 surround channel as well).

While the original film was good, I felt like it was bogged down by too much needless information. Yeah, the original movie edit had the discovery of the Rose drawing and we see that hey, Rose is an old woman so she had to survive. I also liked that this edit removed the OldRose Narration, especially the line about "the slave ship taking me back to America in chains" which I have always found cringe-ey as heck. The deleted scenes added a lot more to the story, and I liked the inclusion of the 2012 TV show. While I reallllyyy didnt like that series from a narration standpoint, it did have some great scenes.

My only critique on an otherwise great edit is the very end. Rose finds the heart of the ocean in her pocket (per usual) and it fades to the (heaven?) scene where Rose and Jack meet up with the rest of the crew and kiss. Then it flashes to Old Rose throwing the diamond into the ocean. I feel like it might have been better to have Rose finding the diamond, show her on the boat, throwing it off, and then dying in her sleep and going to Jack. Other than that part that confused me, it was perfect.

Oh my god, what a film!
And this edit probably only hightened my love for it. This edit cuts the distracting subplot and adds a bunch of cut scenes back in, most of the time seamlessly. There a 2 or 3 a little awkward edits where scenes have been added or trimmed, but nothing you wouldn't come across in original hollywood films.
In some scenes the narration that was in the original was removed. Again, it works seamlessly and the music choice for those scenes was brilliant. Almost all of the additions were perfectly seamless, gave some characters more screentime and opportunity for character developement, showed more of the horrible fate that the people met, etc, etc. This edits feels a lot more brutal than the original film and more human too.
I cried. Three times, at least, despite having seen the film several times. Nothing of its emotional weight is lost, there might even be a bit more. Also, not necessarily knowing whether the leads will survive this ordeal, also makes it more exiting and thrilling. The quality is great, allowing especially the sound effects, which I loved so much in the original, to amaze me all over again. Though the great video quality also reveals some dodgy moments in the VFX of the original film during the flyby shots. But what the heck, it's '97.
It is Andreas', best work so far. When I read about it in this post, I thought to myself, that this could be what Titanic should have been. And by god did this edit deliver.
Just wow...
