I'm a simple guy. I hated Ragnarok. To me, it was the Batman and Robin (1997) of the 21st century. I've been on a major superhero kick lately so I was looking up edits and I stumbled across this one so I thought I'd give it a chance. Bottom line, this is a drastic improvement. I can't say I'm dying to watch it again because I'm not a big fan of the original movie but this edit really elevated this film. I watched with my wife and we had fun, which I wasn't expecting.

recommended for all Thor fans. Great job. If I ever do watch Ragnarok again it will definitely be this version. Thanks for sharing this with the community.

Judging from all the other reviews below, I must be the odd critic out, because I love Thor: Ragnarok! It's my favorite of the three Thor movies (Although I'm curious to see how Love and Thunder will do when it arrives in theaters), and it's the one that, in my mind, pulled off the silliness of Marvel the best. While I don't think it's a perfect film (No Marvel film is, except for Avengers: Infinity War), I still like it a lot and have a lot of affection for it. Between this version and DigMod's, I can happily say that DigMod's is a nice improvement!

I appreciate that this edit isn't attempting to reinvent the wheel. It's a difference of only 13 minutes, and this film didn't need a major improvement as far as I'm concerned. The only two things that separated this edit from the original were that it was shorter, and that it was slightly more serious this time around. I approve of both changes. Clocking in at 117 minutes, the length of this edit is perfect! Not too long, not too short. And the slightly darker tone helped make a lot of the more emotional moments even more effective. The scene where Hulk sees Black Widow's message on the plane, for example, hit harder for me than it did in the theatrical version despite being mostly uncut. I'm also impressed with how invisible almost all of the changes are! The only one I noticed was when Thor threw the ball and the shattered glass sound effect sounded off from the rest of the movie for some reason. Other than that, I didn't notice any of the other changes, and considering how hard that can be sometimes, I have to say, "Bravo, DigMod!"

All in all, this version of Thor: Ragnarok is as close to perfect as it gets, and could very well be my go-to version from here on out! Highly recommended for both Marvel fans and non-Marvel fans!

Like panexis and eternalsage, this is by far my least favorite MCU film. But unlike them, this fanedit does not make Ragnarok watchable for me. As eternalsage said, "crap movie is crap down to its bones" haha! So how to be fair when grading this edit?

Okay, the faneditor's stated goal was to "Trim down the overly ridiculous humor and some of the more over the top cgi fights". Did it do that? I think, MOSTLY yes. There's just SO much overly ridiculous humor in this that it might be impossible to cut it all. Some examples that are still in the film: Hela joking about taking out Thor's eye (with a slap, smh?), God of Thunder getting repeatedly tazed, "Is it though?", Asgardian groupies getting splashed by decapitation goo, Loki's 30 minute tazing, and so on. Can all that be cut? I honestly don't know. I feel like the only way to actually fix the humor in this film is with a much more ambitious re-edit, probably mixing up the chronology and re-scoring the film. It wouldn't be a "trimmed" edition. So I mostly have to give this a high rating, even though it was still like nails-on-a-chalkboard to me.

My thoughts on the film in general and what doesn't work are here: https://letterboxd.com/nottheacademy/film/thor-ragnarok/ But I have to say that I'm NOT opposed to humor in a Thor film. But the humor should be situational and happen as a result of character and story, not from improv-ing and TRYING to make jokes. So some of the humor that was removed here was actually consistent with that. Many of Korg's droll lines, Thor's story about Loki's mischief and some of his comments to Hulk, Hulk not caring about being naked, and...even though it probably is too much, I do miss Loki's "That's what it feels like!"

Overall, this didn't reshape the movie in the way that I wanted. I suspect that for people who really enjoyed it the first time and only realized there were issues when they heard other people complain: this will be the perfect sweet spot. Big, goofy, sci-fi comedy with charming people. It's not Thor, but a lot of people didn't care about Thor before this anyway. If so, this is the film for you.

I do share all the points "eternalsage" had made in his review.

DigiMod saved this movie for me, although it´s still not my favourite. But that´s not DigiMod fault, he did an amazing job.

So, this being my first review, it is only fitting that I started with the film which introduced me to fan-edited films. You see, Thor Ragnarok sums up all the problems I have with the MCU since the end of Phase One; too much lightheartedness, bathos and overuse of mood-killing jokes. Add to all that Waititi's cartoonish approach towards Thor and The Hulk/Bruce Banner and you get why Thor Ragnarok is my most hated film of the whole bunch, especially when it's supposed to deal with the Twilight of the Gods.

When I heard about DigModification’s Trimmed Edition, I was intrigued. Was it possible for a fan-editor to salvage this film? The answer is, pretty much yes. From the get-go, the film seems much better as Thor is no more constantly interrupting Surtur’s speech when he’s spinning around his chains and the so overused joke with the mistimed arrival of Mjolnir is also gone. DigModification’s cuts and edits are seamless and you wouldn’t know that something is missing even if you know what you’re looking for. It was only just this scene during Thor’s escape from his quarters where I could tell that the glass shattering sound was a little “off”, but other than that it’s all top-notch. Actually, there are some ingenious cuts here and there, like Doctor Strange’s complete removal in a very clever way and the edited Stan Lee cameo, without having Thor screaming like a little girl.

So, did really DigModification save Thor Ragnarok? Unfortunately not for me, but that is not by any means the editor’s fault. The film is pretty much unsalvageable. There is no way for any editor to turn this rambling Bruce Banner into the troubled soul we knew from the first Avenger film. There is no way you can turn Korg into the gladiator from the Planet Hulk event (unless you dub over Waititi’s voice, that is). And there is no way you can give Loki back some of his godly dignity when objects are hurled onto his head. That is the reason why, while I mostly enjoyed the first and third act (especially the third act), the second act felt underwhelming. That’s because there is too much nonsense there, impossible to cut without compromising the whole narrative.

Again, that is by no means DigModification’s fault. In fact, thanks to his hard efforts, I can now comfortably watch a previously insufferable film every time I get into a MCU marathon. It’s definitely a must-watch for anyone who felt betrayed by Waititi’s directorial style.
