It's obviously an intimidating undertaking to recut one of the best looking, most iconic horror movies of all time, specifically with a mind send it back in time and cut a lot of the visuals, but this was so sick and so true to the aesthetic. The masking for the 4:3 aspect ratio is great, the music is awesome, and my gawd the stop motion!

All I can say is man this was/is a good one. At times I thought I was watching a 75 year old movie, but then I had to remind myself that it is only a 45 year old movie. I remember when this originally came out, it scared the crap outta me. And I love horror movies. I am also a Kurt Russell fan. But the one thing I have always hated about him is that he has great hair. Well call me jealous but that's a crutch I must bear. Anyway, I love the "oldness" of this title. It feels like it was originally done in the 50's. It has that vibe. I think the black and white along with the 4 x 3 works really well. And even though I know the movie pretty good, this version gave me some good jump scares. Well hell I might just have to watch this a couple more times. And on my popcorn scale I will give this a 7 out of 5. For me that's how good this edit is.

I'm calling this 'The Sunday Afternoon Thing' in honour of Scribbler's angle on good old classics likely shown in the family friendly hours. This one can't quite fit that bill as no doubt the freakyness will encourage nightmares in childeren of an impressionable age. Still pretty close and definitely elderly folks will appreciate; if only for the vibe. Its in 4:3 and should be watched on a proper BoxTV with aerial and dials if at all possible. If we are getting more transmissions from the dawn of television I can see these coming back into fasion.

After reading all the marvellous reviews on here I don't have anything else to add, except that I really did enjoy watching it and I recommend this as one of those few fan edits that have truly stood out as being something rather special on here. I don't believe there are many fan edits of John Carpenter's "The Thing" around, so it was a fresh brave new attempt at something different and of course, it works!

It obviously looks brilliant in B&W with the snowy backdrop and the music fits into the scenes seamlessly somehow, both the visual and audio tones are just right. They fit with the cinematography and the editing cuts have been made at the right places to make the film feel better paced. It's honestly better as a shorter film.

Overall the editor has a keen creative eye and has done a superb job and whenever I decide to watch "The Thing" again, I'm pretty sure I will come back to this version over the original. I truly think it's an improvement on the original edit. Fantastic!

Inventive rework of Carpenter’s masterpiece and the Arrow Parallel idea including its attached lore is entertaining.
