This was a lot of fun! Wraith tackled the elements that my girlfriend disliked the most about the '11 movie (I had only seen half of it, but could see careful edits to remove CG scenes I agreed looked terrible), and the overall edit was very well put together. The only downside is the '11 movie just not really having enough unique ideas to tackle the creature, so we go back and forth on similar plot points. Overall a fun way to watch the original movie with extra backstory, without suffering the worst of the final '11 product.

Forcing both complete narratives into one didn't work properly, the limited choice of scenes available to switch between camps left me confused on more than one occasion, major flow issues where it ends at one camp with them inside and the next scene is a shot of outside with everyone leaving. Did they all just leave? Where are they going? Ah, we're in the other camp now. etc. It felt unnecessary.

And another example, when it switched back to the Norwegian camp after an intense scene at the US camp and she's looking through the drawer for keys, only to have the thing behind go straight into chasing again. That just didn't work without the tension, without that small build up of the lady asking for the keys and pointing fingers at others to gain some trust. It would have been better to skip that and transition to when the guy comes with the flame thrower, he doesn't want to open the door and when he does it's a horrifying shot of her consuming some poor dude on the floor. And why include the continuity error of both camps finding the same ship in different locations? There was no need for that.

Overall I appreciate the effort, but for sure I'd love to see another revision again, one that skips the majority of the newer thing. We already know the norwegian camps fate at the beginning of the movie so we don't need to see every single death, the narrative should be mainly focussed on how the next camp is going to make it out of there and that would allow for a lot more seamless transitions, especially if there's something like a death counter for the Norwegian camp, since we all know they die anyway, it's just letting us know how close they are to being wiped out, maybe even taking some creative liberty and make the norwegian camp black and white with scan lines, it might work nicely and I suggest it mainly to mask that dodgy cgi the new one has.

Either way, much appreciated Wraith, top class effort.

Enjoyable watch.
Both movies complement each other well. Fear not, even if T11 wasn't the best prequel (nor the best script) and had a lot of continuity mistakes (plus its troubled production), here is a new experience and T82 is mostly there with a few changes to improve how it blends with T11.

As an extremelly picky person and hardcore fan of T82, I gotta say, I love it! A must watch for fans looking for an alternate way to rewatch these films.

The Thing like never before.
I liked it a lot !

I always liked the Carpenter original and i had a week spot for the 2011 Version, which did not sit well with many.
Both films are products of the time they where made in and used effects to the best knowledge and options i guess.
But since this edit cut´s the worst CGI from the 2011 Film, i did like the T2011 even more.
Bringing those movies together is so logical and was so much fun to watch.

Seemingly mixing Video and Audio, using bits here and there, like a DJ would do it on a party night and we all would dance along!

Great Work !

Really enjoyed this. Seamless link between the two and my 'go-to' way of watching these underrated classics from now on.
