Yep, based on the original sources, this is a near flawless edit. (2 personal edit remarks mentioned below) I can't give a 9.9, so a 10 it is....

Deleted scenes added back in = amazing to flesh out the characters a bit more, love it. While the change video quality is obviously noticeable, the audio (which I think is more important in many respects) was perfect to my ears, well done.

Narrative-wise, yep - replaces the original. Absolutely. It's just plain better, enough said.

Spoiler alert? 2 minor PERSONAL quips: there is a slow fade used to transition from a Mal and Inara deleted scene to their ship in space - while the fade works artistically (I like it coming off their emotional exchange), it didn't look right for pacing and took me out of the moment. I understand that's probably the best you could do with the material, but I wonder if the reaction shot of Inara would have been better just cut. 2nd quip is the ending shot of Serenity being cut too quickly pacing-wise - took me out of the final moment sadly. Maybe it was on purpose as a metaphor: there wasn't enough, and it was over too quickly. ;)
These are both personal things, but wanting to also give constructive feedback - there it is. :)

Overall, well done on the trilogy, MusicEd - I was very pleased with the entire experience! Thank you!

I really wanted to see an extended cut of the Serenity movie!
This is it.
Your work convinces me that that FireFly should
continue as a movie series!
Audio & Video & Narrative edits just flowed so well.
The only thing to make these edits better would be the video to be in hi def 1080p!
Thank you MusicEd921!

I'm going to use the same review for all three parts of the Serenity Chronicles, because in my opinion, they need to be viewed as a complete package for maximum effect.

MusicEd921 does an outstanding job of tying together the entire series, plus the feature film Serenity, and condensing the essence of the show into 3 feature length DVDs. When I originally contacted MusicEd921 regarding these edits, I mentioned that I was planning a weekend binge-watch of the entire series plus Serenity, something that I do every year or so...

From now on, I'll be binging on these DVDs instead--they're THAT good.

I give a 9 rating on A/V quality solely because of the quality of some of the deleted scenes that were incorporated into the edits. As mentioned previously in other reviews, the quality of these scenes was lower simply because they were not remastered for the DVD release. Not MusicEd921's fault at all.

If you are a Firefly fan, you need to see these edits. :)

Bottom line: If you like sci fi, please give this edit a try, you won't regret it. It is Amazing!

Review- I missed the entire Firefly run when it was out but my dad's a fan so I decided to check this out. It was fantastic. I love TV-to-movie edits because, when done right, they tell the core story of the series without being bogged down by the commercial motivation all TV shows have to keep expanding/adding fluff to meet a series quota. Entertaining, well acted, and well paced, this is an edit anyone who likes good sci fi should catch. It is reminiscent simultaneously of Battlestar Galactica and spaghetti westerns, and thats as good as you can get. Nathan Fillion is great in it as well as the rest of the cast.

This edit is done perfectly, it captures the essence of a solid sci fi show, and I bought the series just to watch and recommend this musiced's work here. Highest recommendation for this trilogy! Congrats man.

It is so tough to review something that has no real flaws! Yes, there is a drop in video quality where deleted scenes are reinserted, but other than that, it is a great edit of a great movie, capping off a great trilogy of Firefly/Serenity fanedits. My biggest complaint is the same complaint I had about the series: I want there to be more of it! But this is as much more as there is ever going to be (unless Joss Whedon gets the gang back together, which is doubtful).
Of the three edits, I suppose the 2nd one has the most consistent picture and audio quality since there were no deleted scenes inserted, but all three are excellent. I hate to leave a short review when I know the editor worked for a long time to create this, but there just isn't much to say when there isn't anything to complain about. It was a great ending to a great tv series and series of fanedits. These will definitely be saved and never deleted from my hard drive. A very easy recommendation to any and everyone. Anyone who has never seen the original series, these 3 movies are a great introduction--and if you are like me and want more (because these are so goram good), you can always go back and watch the full series. While parts 1 and 2 do not replace the full run of the show, part 3 probably does replace the movie Serenity because this is more complete. Fantastic work!
