I'm going to use the same review for all three parts of the Serenity Chronicles, because in my opinion, they need to be viewed as a complete package for maximum effect.

MusicEd921 does an outstanding job of tying together the entire series, plus the feature film Serenity, and condensing the essence of the show into 3 feature length DVDs. When I originally contacted MusicEd921 regarding these edits, I mentioned that I was planning a weekend binge-watch of the entire series plus Serenity, something that I do every year or so...

From now on, I'll be binging on these DVDs instead--they're THAT good.

I give a 9 rating on A/V quality solely because of the quality of some of the deleted scenes that were incorporated into the edits. As mentioned previously in other reviews, the quality of these scenes was lower simply because they were not remastered for the DVD release. Not MusicEd921's fault at all.

If you are a Firefly fan, you need to see these edits. :)

This review is for Serenity Chronicles I and II. Like the poster before me, I didn't find anything wrong with the edit. It works just fine. In the case of part II, I thought the removing of the gruesome scenes from the "hands in blue" characters was well done.

I guess my main criticism is there was nothing much that needed fixing from the original series, as long as you view the episodes in order. This version works well, too, but it doesn't add alter the narrative or add anything much except for the River interviews, which were a good contribution.

I'm in the throws of a terrible sinus infection, so I will keep this review short--which is pretty easy since there is simply nothing wrong anywhere in the whole edit.
Firefly always seemed too good for TV, too cinematic, and this 2nd edit in MusicEd's trilogy confirms this. This type of edit can easily feel strung together from separate episodes, but this holds together very very well, with a through-line focused on River as well as a good clear idea of the state of the 'verse and how difficult it is to get medicine out to everyone who needs it on the outer planets. I liked that the cargo in both capers featured was medicine, as if it has become the most valuable thing in this universe.
It is also worth noting how perfectly balanced this whole thing is and how no character is short-changed. It would have been easy to cut scenes of Inara or Book and keep this still flowing seamlessly, but keeping them in stays truer to Firefly. I am looking forward to the 3rd one very much, as well as rewatching this one when I am not dying of this sinus/ear infection :-)
Highly recommended! Pretty much perfection!

No power in the Verse can stop MusicEd now!

The second chapter in Ed's Serenity Chronicles is another WINNER!

It is by far the most challenging of the three part trilogy, as War Stories weaves together material from four different episodes. But Ed pulls it off wonderfully, tying the stories together with underlying series stories arcs and further connecting it with the River Tam sessions. It truly feels like a complete story rather than a bunch of episodes stitched together. Yes, it has a slightly episodic feel (or rather a three act arc with an epilogue), but that is not a bad thing -- ever seen the The Godfather? It is very episodic in structure. So Ed is in good company.

And the best thing, you do not need to be a Firefly fan or have any knowledge of the series to follow, understand or be entertained by this movie. I watched with my bride, who has never seen the show or even part one, and she was completely enthralled from beginning to end. So fantastic work on narrative!

And the trailer for Part Three has left me salivating! Bring it on!!!

Awesome edit. THUMBS UP!

Okay edit-wise this is perfect, I liked the inclusion of the River Tam sessions as flashbacks, generally I didn't have fault with the use of deleted scenes in the first chapter other than the fact you could sort of f tell they were deleted scenes, this isn't an issue here. Nothing lost or noticeable except for maybe one scene change.

Story:Okay, The first volume dealt with getting the crew together and barely did we get to see Simon or River, because that was not their story. here they take joint centre stage with Mal and Zoe. And Jayne of course, as I already said, the inclusion of Rivers videos helps to establish her character a little more and even though I already know what happens, the final scene of the edit left me wanting more.

I urgently anticipate the third and final chapter.
Congrats and thank you MusicED921 for an entertaining reentry into the whedonverse.
