I watched this film on the editor's recommendation and because my girl is a big fan of Sherlock. It was very much as advertised. A threading of the Moriarty plot lines. It was only available as a video file at the time he gave it to me and since I wanted to give it to my girl as xmas present, I ended up mastering my own ISO, which was a fun project. But bare in mind my review is based off of watching that version and not the original file.

The story was great. There was character development, action, mystery. Vary strong narrative over all.

I did however found the video to be rather grey and had some compression crunchiness in parts. Sherlock is already sort of grey to begin with and I would have like to see the color bumped up a bit instead of being even more washed.

I really liked the use of the pan-wipes to connect the footage from different episodes together. Unfortunately it was a bit over used and made me kind of seasick.

But overall, I would totally watch this one again and glad to have it on my shelf!

This was the first fan-edit I watched from ifdb, and certainly convinced me that these can help promote a series. Splitting up a plot into several parts may make sense on consecutive airing to keep the tension, but after the fact it simply seems artificial like an advertisement break. This is esp. the case when the individual episodes where simply fluffed up to be more stand-alone, when the overall storyline doesn't warrant it.

These story arcs need fusing and fan-editing, and "The Fall of Sherlock" is an excellent example how to do it right. Everyone not knowing Sherlock will be instantly hooked and become a fan of the series - not that this would happen in reality of course, as you first have to buy the series to be able to enjoy the fanedit.

As this probably isn't as difficult to do than repairing a completely broken movie, I gave it a "9" for everything but full "10" enjoyment. One deduction as usual though for the lack of an editor audio commentary, I wish these would be more ubiquitous as hearing from a true fan and expert of the source is so insightful and fun.

Well....This is a bravura piece of plot deconstruction and re-construction...And what a superb job.

I love Sherlock...and the Moriarty thread kept us all hooked...but having it condensed was something I was looking forward to.

The fact is I just could not tell what had gone. Technically superbly executed. All audio work was for the most part completely seamless. Visually I have nothing to state other than perfect and the only reason I held back from a 10 here was that some of the transitions IMO could have been a tad smoother but that is taste not technical execution. Similarly for Audio with a couple of the music segues being a tad quick (but I won all the Sherlock scores so I might just be hyper sensitive to that). I'd be surprised if anyone else did notice that. It again is a matter of taste. Some minor artefacting on a 50inch plasma, but not an issue. A BluRay release of this would have been welcome...I will convert and burn however since I want this in my box set...

And so to Narrative...We are familiar with the saying "careful what you wish for"...Well this edit is very much what it says on the tin. The plotting is extremely dense as a result of removing the subplots. Though they are expertly excised I found a couple of lines that did not quite make sense in their context which may have been tangential to the removed plot but needed to remain I suspect. The issue is that the plotting is VERY DENSE and you need to be awake, attentive and engaged. YOU WILL BE REWARDED.

I enjoyed this tremendously and an Enjoyment of 10 was avoided simply because it was so dense ...If I had to make one constructive comment (and it is the only one I have)...I would have threaded one of the subplots in....but that would have pushed it to near 3hrs...alternately, (oops comment 2)...I would have added one of the fake solutions to Holmes fate to close the narrative off as a wink to the viewer since this does not need to leave a cliffhanger...its a fanedit after all.

Well done RANGER613....Can't wait for BenHur...LURVE the trailer you did.

Excellent edit , very diificult to find any faults , picture is excellent , sound was quiet but i think that is a problem my end , not with the edit. My only issue was the small scene where one moment they are handcuffed in an alley and the next they are freed and there has been a big reveal about Mycroft, seemed like there needed a little more fill in here. Highly recommended.

I'm a huge fan of the BBC Sherlock series so I was interested in watching this edit. I didn't read any of the editor's intentions or cutlist before watching. But I had an idea of where it was going considering the title.

Overall this edit worked pretty well. I know the episodes almost by heart so there were some things I missed that I had enjoyed. But obviously things needed to be cut like Irene Adler, and the reporter and the fact that Jim Moriarty is an actor. And I did miss that the Nina Simone "Sinner Man" sequence was cut short, although it was definitely not critical that we see a female guard take a stick of gum out of Moriarty's pocket!

While this edit was enjoyable I do prefer just watching the episodes. But ranger managed to present a nice condensed story, cutting out necessary elements (that, had they been kept in, would have led to plot inconsistencies). For the most part the editing was invisible, like I said, knowing these episodes inside and out made it hard not to notice when things were cut (but this was not due to bad editing, just to my good memory!).

Nice work.
