This is what every TV-to-movie edit should aim for.
Just pick up an arc of the story that you find the most interesting and use the source to build a movie around that.
Don't just try to mash a whole season to 3 or fewer hours.

If you have never seen Sherlock and don't have the time this is perfect, and if you saw Sherlock and want to rewatch the Moriarty arc this is perfect.

Perfect edit

I enjoyed watching this edit from start to finish. Highly recommendable for every Sherlock fans. What this edit achieved was to highlight the intensity of the rivalry between Sherlock and Moriarty, in a way that is much better than what was presented originally as an episodic structure. Especially considering 2 filler episodes, in a sense, between each 'Moriarty arc' episodes.

Seriously solid combination of the two Moriarty centered episodes. Cutting out the filler was smart and cutting certain aspects (like the neighbours who are spies, the cliffhanger in the great game, and Moriarty posing as an actor). Altogether, a solid edit to watch and very well done!

Great job, ranger613! I'm a huge Sherlock fan and enjoyed this edit, as much that I made a sequel and a sequel to that, which hopefully go well with this. (The Return of Sherlock and The Vow of Sherlock)

What a wonderful edit! Superb execution with stellar edits, both video and audio. No small feat, condensing six episodes into 2h30-ish minutes of cohesive narrative. It works well and I really have no larger points of criticism. The only thing I noticed and wanted, was a slight breather between the pool and the Crown jewel heist. A few seconds of time lapses over London or similar. Other than that, this edit was enjoyable from start to finish.

Highly recommended, but as wraith mentioned in his review, some concentration is required if you want to follow the narrative. It is indeed dense, but by no means irksome.

Great work, ranger613!

This was the first fan-edit I watched from ifdb, and certainly convinced me that these can help promote a series. Splitting up a plot into several parts may make sense on consecutive airing to keep the tension, but after the fact it simply seems artificial like an advertisement break. This is esp. the case when the individual episodes where simply fluffed up to be more stand-alone, when the overall storyline doesn't warrant it.

These story arcs need fusing and fan-editing, and "The Fall of Sherlock" is an excellent example how to do it right. Everyone not knowing Sherlock will be instantly hooked and become a fan of the series - not that this would happen in reality of course, as you first have to buy the series to be able to enjoy the fanedit.

As this probably isn't as difficult to do than repairing a completely broken movie, I gave it a "9" for everything but full "10" enjoyment. One deduction as usual though for the lack of an editor audio commentary, I wish these would be more ubiquitous as hearing from a true fan and expert of the source is so insightful and fun.
