It’s been many years since I last saw Rise of the Machines and, in all honesty, I am in no position to recall all those little details that made it a bad film. What I distinctly remember is the tone inconsistency compared to its predecessors (cringy jokes etc.) and the sour taste it left in my mouth, as a result. As a sequel to one of the best films ever made, it failed spectacularly, although it was not without some redeeming qualities, mainly an incredible ending. That ending did not deserve that movie, as some commentator nicely put it.

Uncanny Antman’s edit fixes all that and he does it in a way that is phenomenal! The Coming Storm is not only one of the best FanFixes I’ve ever seen, it is also a worthy successor to the original duology. It’s not T2: Judgement Day, of course! A sequel directed by some Jonathan Mostow, even masterfully edited, cannot be Judgement Day! But as far as I’m concerned, it is better than Genisys and Dark Fate combined. The serious tone has returned, the timeline inconsistencies have been removed, the visual and audio editing is perfect, and the whole narrative is still intact. All that were so artistically done that I could not even tell what was cut out to improve the original film. I’ve read some complaints about the time paradox of the future virus inserted by the editor in some of the reviews. In my opinion, that is no different from Kyle Reese coming from the future to become John Connor’s father, so no problem there for me. There were just a couple of awkward Arnie grimaces here and there –just before the T-800 shuts down, for example- but removing them was kind of impossible, I believe.

All in all, Uncanny Antman provides everything I’ve ever wished for, as he takes a heavily flawed film and turns it into something more than respectable and watchable. Finally, the film has become an enjoyable ride from the beginning to the end, and not just in the end. Certainly a work well-done.

As said in this Podcast episode: https://youtu.be/djrZ2RE1gM4

The editing is solid. A+.

This for me fixes Terminator 3. Does it make it perfect? Of course not but it makes it closer in tone to the first two and makes the overall story much better. Cuts down on most of the cheese and makes the Terminators act more like well Terminators. Also helps make John less of a clueless dumb ass.

Should also be noted the copy I got had a borked 5.1 track where the center channel was in the back.... I had to re-encode with Handbrake as a flat Stereo track. Not even Pro-Logic would fix this issue.

If you didn't like T3, you might like this. If you already liked T3 you'll probably love this. I say check it out.

I haven't seen the original version since the last Terminator came out, so I don't remember it all that much. I intentionally didn't read the cutlist as well.

What I saw was incredible. It's a completely different film altogether that stands up next to the first two. All the terrible dialogue, jokes have been seamlessly removed and minor continuity errors removed. I didn't notice a single edit anywhere.

Removing most of the Terminators' lines have made them more terrifying than before, they don't say a single word to each other the whole film, inline with the previous 2 films. Also taking out the short conversation with John asking about "Hasta la vista baby" makes him seem like he's just used to time-travelling robots at this point, a nice change.

Overall, a vast improvement over the original. This forever replaces the Rise of the Machines DVD sitting on my shelf.

Again Uncanny Antman knocks it out the park with this fanedit, almost all of the cheesy corny lines have been edited out from this movie, the T1000 acting like a woman GONE,the T800 and T1000 are now acting more like how the terminators acted in the previous movies. this version takes a movie that was packed with boob jokes, gay jokes and time travelling errors and turns it into highly enjoyable cat and mouse chase movie.

This is a must watch for terminator fans.

I know I'm late to the game on this one, but what a great watch. I really disliked this movie from top to bottom and this edit makes it not only watchable but part of the series.

Thank you
