Inglorious is my favoruite Tarantino film, and just one of my favourite films in general, so to say I was most curious to check this edit out is an understatement. Now that I've seen it, I thoroughly loved it.

The editing on display, both visual and audio, is nothing short of flawless. The story is still coherent, all character arcs still make sense, even though a lot was cut to fit the narrative in that 60-minute time frame. The newly added needle drops fit incredibly well and give scenes a new edge.

What more can I say? If you're a fan of this film, and even if you're not, this is a must-watch.

Inglourious Basterds is my favorite Tarantino film and, IMO, his masterpiece. Consequently, it can only be diminished in my eyes by excising material. Having said that, I really enjoyed this edit and its focus on the Basterds' story.

The editing is flawless and even in this abbreviated form, the story is engaging and coherent. You get just enough of each set piece to whet your whistle, so to speak, but there are no significant loose ends in the story thread. For my money, the three standout scenes in the original film are the opening scene with Landa on the LaPadite farm, the strudel scene with Landa, Goebbels and Shosanna, and the bar scene with Fassbender. We get plenty of the latter two and a brief callback to the former, which is not essential to the focus of this edit, so you don't miss the rest of that outstanding scene. In fact, trimming the strudel scene made it even more evident that Landa knows exactly who Shosanna is and is merely toying with her like a cat with a mouse.

I enjoyed the vast majority of the new music, all of which is great and almost all of which fits seamlessly into the movie. I can quibble a bit with the way Heroes was used to fade out on Aldo or how Suffragette City lingered (for me) a hair too long beneath Fassbender and Myers for the first portion of their conversation, but those are very small nitpicks. Most of the changes work very well - Fame leading us from the cinema into the strudel scene, Rebel Rebel spinning on the turntable during the bar scene, Changes chuckling behind the epilogue - but Pigs during the finale is a bona fide stroke of genius. It absolutely crushes during the chaos and carnage.

Overall, a stellar job by ArtisDead. Thank you for sharing your work and enhancing my enjoyment of an already great film. Bravo!

I copied this from my overall review of the entire series

Addtional bit. I just finished watching Episode 7. And if I didn't already say it, sometimes your forget about some parts of a movie if it's been awhile since you last watched it. And yes I forgot some parts and things about this film. The biggest being don't have lunch while you're watching..lol. All I can say is another great episode. And as I said the way all of these are edited it makes you pay closer attention. And in this one I saw Austin Powers Father and a relative of Cliff Booth? I say this because these characters had so many similar lines and mannerisms of the latter characters. I wanna give these episodes a higher score on my popcorn scale but I think that would be over kill, just like Tarantino's use of violence in his films (wink wink). Again great work and I am looking forward to seeing what the Red Apple Crew have in store for us later this year. Now I gotta go find my lunch.... I lost it somewhere

Inglorious Basterds is an unwieldy beast to trim down to around an hour, but this manages to find a way to do it without sacrificing narrative clarity nor – most importantly – the distinct flow and energy characteristic of Quentin Tarantino's movies.

Some of the musical additions, anachronistic though they may be, are absolutely inspired and are a perfect example of how to effectively use music. ArtisDead hasn't simply thrown in songs based solely on personal taste, but clearly thought about how they can elevate what is happening in a scene.

Overall, a near-faultless edit.

Inglorious Basterds in its original form is a movie I can appreciate for individual scenes but less as a whole. So I'm strangely the perfect audience for this edit. I was honestly amazed at how short the runtime is considering I'm hard pressed to remember what specific scenes or even plotlines were cut. Very inspired and experimental - maybe not the best version for Tarantino purists but plenty to appreciate for those looking for a truly lean cut!
