I only saw the theatrical cut of this film once, a number of years ago so this is almost like my first experience with the movie. The editing is near flawless, but my main complaint is Lois' dialogue after the time-reverseless ending. Because Superman doesn't turn back time, I think Lois' dialogue should have been further altered. I really hope MusicEd921 makes some changes to that scene in his HD re-release.

But please, don't let my gripes turn you away from this edit, I still loved it and will no doubt watch it again!

It was darn hard to pick a Superman edit to watch, with all the choices. But after reading through them, I was thinking a combination of movies I and II would be a little too much. And I believe I made the right choice.

Audio/Video quality was good, except at times the action sounds were particularly louder than the speaking voices and I had to do some adjusting. Maybe just my system, hard to say. Never noticed any audio or video breaks, and wow I'd forgotten what a great movie sound track it was.

Narrative was stellar. Maybe a bit too fast moving for me here and there, felt like things jumped ahead. But most importantly the turn back time part of the movie was gone. That is the prime reason I never really liked Superman following the movie - if he can just turn back time, then there really is no suspense. Can always hit rewind - lame! Thank you for an enjoyable ending. I recommend this to anyone who wants a simple introduction to Superman.

Like Bionicbob said, there's a few recognisable moments cut, but I didn't realise several of them until I came and checked the cutlist AFTER i'd watched the film.

This is a tighter Superman edit, and one I'm very happy with. I'd always wanted Superman: the movie to be tackled as a standalone project rather than a hybrid with Superman 2, I think I prefer this to the theatrical cut and will be my 'go to' version in the future. Namely for the ending which had always bothered me since around the age of 11. I don't care that Lois isn't in peril. We get to see Superman clean up around him, and now Jimmy's line when he catches up to Lois & Superman makes sense.

This is a very good candidate for FEOTM and well worth a watch.

Omaru:

Thank you for your interest in my edit and taking the time to review it. I knew that messing with some of the most recognizable moments would be noticeable, but I tried to make them as less jarring as possible. I'm glad you enjoyed my take on this classic and thanks for the confidence booster on mentioning it as a candidate for FEOTM!

All I was looking for in an edit of the first Superman movie was the removal of two scenes: Lois' spontaneous mid-air poetry and our titular hero's time reversal shenanigans. I didn't realize that so much more could be cut while only serving to improve the film even further!

Let me be blunt: THIS EDIT IS PERFECT.

Ever change works like gangbusters, and they're all invisible. It looks great. It sounds great. The DVD is terrific. Watch this now!
