Superman: Up, Up and Away Edition

I only saw the theatrical cut of this film once, a number of years ago so this is almost like my first experience with the movie. The editing is near flawless, but my main complaint is Lois' dialogue after the time-reverseless ending. Because Superman doesn't turn back time, I think Lois' dialogue should have been further altered. I really hope MusicEd921 makes some changes to that scene in his HD re-release.

But please, don't let my gripes turn you away from this edit, I still loved it and will no doubt watch it again!

This is exactly the movie I always wanted Superman: The Movie to be for my whole life. The pace is tightened, much of the cheese and dated jokes are gone, and what's left is a much more timeless showcase for Reeve's iconic portrayal of Superman. The highlight is the excision of the "turning Earth" ending, which allows this edit to sit much more comfortably next to Superman II: The Donner Cut (or whatever fan edit of that version you prefer) without making it look like Superman is quite so cavalier about messing with the space-time continuum.

MusicEd's HD remaster of this project is apparently in the works, and I look forward to it as much (if not moreso) than whatever new Superman movie WB releases next.

All I was looking for in an edit of the first Superman movie was the removal of two scenes: Lois' spontaneous mid-air poetry and our titular hero's time reversal shenanigans. I didn't realize that so much more could be cut while only serving to improve the film even further!

Let me be blunt: THIS EDIT IS PERFECT.

Ever change works like gangbusters, and they're all invisible. It looks great. It sounds great. The DVD is terrific. Watch this now!

This is a pretty great fanedit. Superman The Movie is my favorite Sups flick and this makes it even better. It runs smoothly without dragging, while retaining the deliberate pace and character moments. Recommended for fans of Superman.
