Knowing how dirty Donner was done in the behind the scenes process of these movies, specifically Superman 2, it was great to see a version of this story told that Donner would have more likely intended, and Wraith did an excellent job accomplishing that. In terms of pure enjoyability, this edit is incredible and despite its four hour runtime, I barely felt the length; in contrast, though I do really like Superman Returns, it feels so much slower despite being only 2.5 hours long.

There were a few times where the editing was slightly off in my opinion, specifically in the scenes involving Superman 2, as Wraith was obviously trying to blend both Donner and Lester's cuts together in a satisfying way; they didn't take me out of the film, and sometimes the editing seemed to be from the movie itself, not Wraith, but it's still apparent in some areas, such as the Niagara Falls subplot, which feels a little scattered in Donner's version. Some other scenes also seemed to be a little lower quality compared to others; though some make sense, such as the screentest footage of Lois discovering Clark's identity, others like Clark and Martha in the wheat field seemed to be really hard to see for no major reason, and I couldn't tell if that was the quality of the film itself or the quality of the films Wraith was using.

My only other nitpick would be the opening of the film. Though I imagine most of the opening credits are that long originally, it felt like such a slow start, even with Williams orchestration, and the use of Returns' "Krypton Explodes" scene was pretty noticeable. Despite this, Wraith has done an excellent job in merging all of these visions together into a cohesive whole, and has inspired me to want to make my own fan-edit of these films someday.

Thanks again Wraith!

Another great and constrained edit by Wraith, which is respectful with the original director's intentions. I feel the two movies combined feel more natural and epic than the splitted versions, especially given the limitations of the SII Donner's cut. Some of the limitations of the latter are still there, but they are much less noticeable in this edit with the added context of the first movie.

The visual and audio edit is almost flawless and not only it cuts the two movies as one may expect, but it also trims some cheesy shots that help the movie to flow better.

As minor comments, I think the release could benefit from a higher bitrate and I'm not a fan of including the Superman Return's Krypton destruction shot. Even though the latter looks spectacular, IMHO it does not blend with the original effects, thereby making this cut quite obvious.

Wraith delivers a Superman edit worthy of any fans time. In my opinion it's a crime that Superman 78 and SII haven't officially been combined into one four hour epic. As a huge Superman fan myself I have some differing opinions on some choices that were made with this edit (and all SII edits) but that's too be expected as we all have different tastes and preferred versions (Donner, Lester, 3hr cut etc).

Bottom line, If you like Christopher Reeve Superman films you have to check this out.

Wraith made Superman The Motion Picture magical once again. As a child I was never bothered by the inconsistency in quality between Superman 1 and 2. As I grew older that changed, an The Donner Cut failed to redeem the film's tarnished presence in my eyes. Wraith has constructed Donner's vision to its greatest extent, providing a seamless experience that details Superman's origin and challenges as a hero. With masterful attention to editing and tone, Wraith has provided a viewing experience that has recaptured my wonder for The Man of Steel.

ever since i hear about the production nightmare of superman 1 and 2 ive been dreaming about the complete vision. I thought the richard donner versions would fix everything but then we had superman spinning the earth in 2 movies which just seemed silly. I watched this all the way through all 4 hours! editing was seamless. a couple of shots of dont match i imagine because test shots were used and christopher was much thinner but that is not the editors fault at all that is just the source material available. Also some of the lex scenes in the second half are a bit silly, i imagine that is because they are the lester shots? again no fault to editor - that is just the source material. available. The spinning the earth thing that everyone craps on i dont consider superman rewinding time hes just traveling faster than light and going back in time! Overall i highly recommend this! i consider this the best version by far!
