As a long time fan of the It TV Miniseries, looking back there are some obvious flaws no matter the enjoyment or nostalgia. This cut not only improved the video quality to where most of the time I forgot it was even made for TV, but also removed some of the more silly bits, or the awkward parts that really wore down what was really a diamond needing a small polish. The new audio and sfx are quite perfect and really added to the drama or feel of the scenes, though there might of been one or two parts they were a "little" too loud but not enough to ruin any enjoyment. All in all I feel this could be my definitive version of the movie and would recommend this to anyone who loves this story or the original.

I write this review having revisited the edit recently, after first watching it around its release.

I am very pleased to say that the high quality I remembered from my first viewing was neither imagined nor unduly expanded by hindsight - this is an excellent presentation of the best elements of the 1990 miniseries, reworked with an eye towards more modern sensibilities.

There are one or two moments I noticed where the musical transitions where just abrupt enough to signal that something had been reworked there, but I'm almost certain those will be down to limitations of the source material. They are more than made up for by all the hard work that has gone into this edit. This is a permanent replacement for the original as far as I'm concerned.

An excellent first edit that does a terrific job of modernising a good but rather dated TV Stephen King adaptation. It's not really possible to fix some of the wooden acting and sub-par special effects but pretty much everything else gets a fresh makeover, score, aspect ratio, titles and sound fx are all brought right up to date. The rescore utilizing the score from the 2017 version is particularly impressive and really gives this old tv movie a more modern feel. The editor also did a great job of tweaking Pennywise's kills to give him a modern agile sense of menace.

Narratively I didn't feel any sense of anything being missed from the half hour or so that was cut from the tv version, I'm not sure how much footage has been moved around to forge this narrative as it's quite a while since I've watched the TV version but if there was a considerable amount it certainly didn't disrupt or disjoint the narrative flow of this new modernised take on things. As I've already said an excellent edit that bodes very well for the editors forthcoming 'Stand' adaptation too.

Oh and whoever thought to call it 'The Cinematic Cut' is a genius! lol

Yes, man. This is what a fanedit should be. This was engrossing from beginning to end, and edited beautifully. I don't know how much you moved around to create the flashbacks (if anything), but it worked perfectly. The video looks better than some "HD" fanedits which is crazy since it was made for 90s TV.

Honestly, the movie played like the best episode ever of Are You Afraid of the Dark. And it was fucking great.
