This is edit very much a love letter to Superman. The way this movie was rearranged and the little snips along with the bigger cuts just work so much better than the theatrical cut and replaces the theatrical as my go to version. I can only imagine the amount of work that had to go into this but tremault clearly tackled this head on.

There are a lot of things I felt the original movie got wrong with Superman and the Kents. This edit does a very good job of correcting a lot of the things I felt were wrong and brings things in line with the feeling of the character that I have been reading for many years.

Absolutely phenomenal colour re-grading. It's the Superman film that was hidden underneath Man of Steel. Intriguingly focused mystery Act 1, making Clark more otherworldly, almost an angelic presence, only to then draw us in close for Act 2 and his conflict. The only reason this doesn't get even higher marks for narrative and enjoyment is that the third act is by necessity a load of sound and fury, though again, tremault pulls its soul out of the fire for the conclusion. This has got my brain whirling regarding what could be done with BvS. Professional, focused, coherent and polished. This is one to make sure you recommend to all.

Steel of Man is a fascinating new take on Man of Steel tons of new and interesting ideas.

-The new color grade looks great, especially on the opening logos.
-The new structure is very reminiscent of Superman For All Seasons (awesome).
-The way Clark is kept as a mystery man from the start works surprisingly really well.
-Certain scenes are cropped/zoomed to a close-up, honing in on performances which is such a simple idea but it works wonders.
-The changing aspect ratios and old filmic quality gives the film a more intimate feeling, which is greatly appreciated in a movie that is 50% intense action.

Overall, while there are still some drawbacks (many with the film itself) this is a compelling way to view this divisively incredible and incredibly divisive film.

I saw Man of Steel for the first and only time about a year-and-a-half-ago, but while I cannot remember the story in great detail I can recall a sense of apathy towards it. This edit on the other hand made me feel for the characters, the more-lively image helps one better engage and the altered structure reduces (in my mind) distracting comparisons to the Donner/Reeve classics. It did occasionally feel like parts were missing, the engagement with the villains starting rather early, but cannot be sure if this was a result of aspects inherent to the original or I waiting for something that occurred in the excised 40-odd minutes.

Technically good on the whole, but the boosted saturation occasionally led to colours blooming, e.g. at one point Superman has visibly blue hair. The added time/location cards also felt, for want of a better word, a touch "informal" but this is a minor complaint.

A great start to my venture among DCEU edits, while I don't think Man of Steel can ever be timeless in the sense of Superman: The Movie, tremault has made it watchable!

While I enjoyed the brightening of the colors, the removal of some of the excess violence, a greater focus on Superman's humanity, and appreciate the idea behind the narrative, I can't help but feel like important scenes were lost in the nonlinear telling of the story, especially when it came to Jor-el explaining to Clark about General Zod and Krypton's destruction. Jor-el's death is mentioned but never seen. Dialogue is abruptly cut off to make way for the flashbacks, which I found annoying. I sorely missed the childhood "focus on my voice" scene, which lost another point on the enjoyment scale.

It was a good and respectable effort overall, but this is not the version of MoS that I will be going back to.

my entire intent was to remove flashbacks wherever possible ^^
I appreciate your feedback of course. It's a shame I ended up losing some bits that you hold dear. I do lament losing some of those events on krypton, but it didn't make sense when following the story purely from Clark and Lois' perspective. The AI would not have had that information and Zod never would have told Clark about that in enough detail to justify a flashback. It was hard enough to justify the trial flashback. nonetheless, we all have our own priorities!
Thank you for watching and thank you for taking the time to review :)
