This is probably one of the best fan edits I've seen out of the star wars movies. Doesn't change the core of the movie at all, just makes it flow 1000x better. Outstanding work on making this not only watchable, but actually fun!

Only complaint is I'm not sure what source this edit is using but it is clearly not the superior HDTV version of the film. It can look a little soft and dull at times. But it's a minor complaint

I have now watched this edit more times than I have watched the theatrical. I used to have a hard time picking between Hal9000, Q2, L8wrtr, and seciors edits. With this, the best of those edits is combined into the quintessential TPM viewing experience. I never feels like a fanedit. Rather, it just feels like how TPM should have been edited in the first place. Jar Jar is there, but it doesn't feel like he's taking over the whole movie. The juvenile humor is toned down but not to the point that the edit is completely joyless. Rather, the humor is more in line with the humor from the OT series. All in all, a very balanced, well-paced (which is hard to do with TPM especially) edit that just feels like Star Wars.

Masterful editing here. The final battles feel a bit light in terms of connection to characters due to removed dialogue.

...well, I think I must echo the various praise this edit has received. Takes some of the best ideas from the various other editors over the years and combines with a few new ones, and seamlessly. An excellent cut of the film: keeps its strengths, trims its weaknesses. Very very good. This is easily in the top three cuts of Episode I that I've seen (7 of them so far).

My enjoyment score is personal and of a nitpicky nature; you can't go wrong with this one.

Bottom line: This is the best fanedit for The Phantom Menace I've seen. I've seen Phantom Editor's, Q2's, and l8wrtr’s. Octoroxx's is the smoothest, least "fanedit-y" edit available for this film, in my opinion. I started watching Hal9000's but was put off by the title change in the opening crawl.

More comments: As I've gotten older and married, and have a son with a second on the way, my enjoyment of the prequel trilogy has matured from childlike wonder, to sophomoric criticism, back to childlike wonder. Lucas wasn't trying to make Vertigo (another movie I love). He was making a prequel to his adventure story magnum opus. And it was, and is, for children (and, in my opinion, for their fathers). As well done as Octoroxx's edit is, it still cuts too much for me. Music sounds unavoidably chopped. Rearranged and heavily cut scenes sometimes appear abrupt or odd (throne room capture of the Viceroy). I now know that I may never see a fanedit I'll enjoy more than the retail DVD version of The Phantom Menace. And that's OK! If you want to try a fanedit of The Phantom Menace, this is the one. Well done Octoroxx. It was your relative editing conservatism that made this edit my favorite, even though I just like the original film too much.
