Star Wars: Rise of the Rebellion - A Rogue One Edit
Featured HotThis edit is intended to clean up the few subjective mishaps in the film and present a narrative that isn't merely trying to be Star Wars, but IS. My main objectives were to add a crawl, remove planet cards, rescore certain scenes (with EU and Giacchino cues) make Chirrut less Kung Fu, Bodhi slightly calmer and more confident, making Cassian's demons internal and reducing Saw to a Lor San Tekka-Esque character.
- Blu-Ray (BD-25)
- MP4/M4V/MOV
- Special Thanks
- Custom Crawl (this will be my Episode III of the prequel trilogy, so it indicates that)
- Custom pan down and Krennic shuttle flying towards Lah'mu
- Removed Saw opening up hatch to find Jyn (we only see the hatch begin to open)
- Removed Rogue One Title card, now hard cuts to Jyn waking up as if she was dreaming
- Removed Cassian's introduction scene
- Removed Bodhi's introduction scene
- Cropped scene to remove planet card during Wobani rescue (added sharpening to film)

- Removed Bor Gullet
- Added tie sfx to transition from K2 to Jedha pan shot
- Removed Cornelius Evazan and Ponda Baba
- Added Battlefront Imperial track to Rebel ambush
- Shortened Chirrut's acrobatics and removed his "is your foot alright" line and human shield antics
- Removed the cut to Jyn and Cassian to connect the continuous shot where Baze fires at the stormtroopers
- Removed Chirrut's "are you kidding me" line
- Color corrected Tarkin's skin tones during Jedah DS firing sequence
- Color corrected Vader's eyes during his meeting with Krennic
- Cropped Eadu planet card to remove text (added sharpening to film)
- Rescored Rebel Alliance meeting with Force theme
- Removed Bodhi's stuttering when asked who is stealing the imperial ship

- Color corrected Tarkin's skin tones
- Cropped scene with R2 and 3P0 to remove them from the shot and reworked surround track to eliminate their dialogue
- Rescored Star Destroyer collision (Scrambling the Rebel Fleet' airplane collision/crash sfx)
- Color corrected Tarkin's skin tones
- Color corrected Vader's eyes when he is watching the Rebel fleet be massacred
- Trimmed Vader's awkward hand gesture of choking rebel soldier and then motioning to fling him to the side. (it just looks too fan filmy for me)
- Color corrected Leia's skin tones
- Fixed audio volume transition into credits
- Added custom edited/fanedited credits
- Added grouped name credits to shorten credits and have them end on the the musical finale (the original doesn't for some reason)
- Added custom title cards to ending

A very recommended edit indeed! I quite liked the the theatrical release, but this is fanedit far superior. The cuts were seamless and helped improve issues in the narrative that bothered me - first and foremost the numerous and annoying scenes involving Forrest Whitaker. Thank you so much, DigModiFicaTion, for taking the time to create this wonderful fanedit.
Additionally, as others commented before me, the visual and audio editing are superb, and in some places even better than in the theatrical release (e.g., Tarkin and Leia).

This is a far better edit over the theatrical release. All the visual and audio edits are seamless and I didn't notice anything out of place or missing. The CGI Tarkin and Leia look so much better with the colour correction. The removal of some of the fanservice is much appreciated as its far less distracting.
This edit improves the story and makes the narrative seem tighter. It is a far more enjoyable experience than the theatrical release. However, through no fault of DigModiFicaTion, I'm one of the minority who thought Rogue One was a very average and slightly dull film and though this edit improves it, I still feel the same way. But it feels harsh to mark DigModiFicaTion down for this too much as the edit is certainly aimed at those who enjoyed the original and only wanted a light edit.
Still, this is a very impressive edit for those that enjoyed the original release to begin with.

Very well crafted edit. I thoroughly enjoyed this one, more so than the theatrical cut (which I really liked). The CG monstrosities looked better, the new scoring in places was excellent and the worst character in the movie for me is mercifully trimmed. Forrest Whitaker is great but I don't know what was going on with his acting or character in this one. Chirrut didn't bug me in the theatrical but I think I like him a bit more here. Removing Cassian's intro scene is a double-edged sword for me. I prefer it cut because it seemed contrived and started him a bit too harsh of a place IMO but then we don't meet him until a good bit later. I like that his arc was internal because Diego Luna is fantastic but I wished I had a bit more to start with. That being said, I would like that to be something other than the original scene we got, so...overall it's a positive. I'm fine with the Vader trims. It was a bit fan-servicey but honestly everything since the OT involving Vader is a bit fan-servicey. Really great technically, this edit replaced the theatrical cut for me.
Now this is what should have been released in theatres! Tight, solid edit! I highly recommend this version a lot more than the original!
This is a no BS edit! DigModiFicaTion, I applaud your work on this edit, and on your edit on Heir of the Force (SW:TFA)

The movie flows much better. There are no immersion breaking character fleshing moments, excess cameos have been toned down, the wit and the humor complement the grit and emotion, and I can finally show this movie to people as the first movie in the saga. Absolutely marvelous fan edit. My go to for Rogue One. Thank you so much for the seamless work.
