Well the hints in its title Legendary this fanedit definitely is. On their own these amendments might not sound like much but all together makes all the difference to the end product. I got what the movie was trying to saying in the theatre and can appreciate the film because of that which is best said by Yoda:
"Luke, we are what they grow beyond" and Lukes: "Its time for the Jedi, to end." quotes after all what are Jedi at the end of the day a group of religious force sensitive individuals so why not consider a new group of force sensitive people and in turn open up that all to familiar galaxy far, far away.

With that in mind this fanedit strengthens this core message by tightening the story eg perfectly removing the unnecessary Canto Bight chase scene and cutting small scenes or quotes which leaves you concentrating more on characters motives. Adding deleted scenes like Luke morning the loss of Han is a must to have here but my only problem is the omission of the other deleted scene, the third lesson were Luke shows Ray that the Jedi’s ways are ultimately floored as rushing to helping the caretakers is not the Jedi’s way. I can understand why this scene was not added back as Hals removed all scenes with caretakers to show Luke was truly on his own on the island but adding that third lesson would of paid off better with the stories flow even if it meant keeping the other few scenes with the caretakers in the film.

Overall this fanedits achieved what it set out to do by strengthening the original story and making that force sensitive broom boy scene at the end make more sense ;]

Well done Hal

I share quite a history with TLJ (see my review of DonKamillo's Anti-Cringe-Cut for the full story). Long story short: for almost two years this film really my hurt my ever-lasting love for Star Wars. Until I discovered the fanedits of this film.

The Fallen Knight made me not hate it anymore, the Anti-Cringe-Cut made me like it and TLJ: Legendary made me love it. Perfect video and audio quality/editing (visually TLJ has always been an impressing film) and 100% improved storytelling by getting rid of all disctracting things (which there too many of to name them all).
Only things I didn't like that are still in this edit: the shot of Luke drinking milk, Carrie Poppins and Rose saving Finn.

Gladly TLJ: Rekindled by poppasketti builds up on this edit and fixes all of my remaining problems with this. If it holds up by video/audio quality/editing, it'll be my definitive go-to version for the future.

Nonetheless: thank you, Hal9000 for the amazing work! As always a fantastic edit. Really excited for the finished version of TROS: Ascendant, the workprint v4 is already quite good.

As good as HAL's "Force Awakens" edit. If you liked that, you'll like this one, too. As always, there are a few narrative choices where I would have zigged where he zagged, but this isn't my edit, it's his. Kudos to him for seeing his vision through!

Hi, Hal.

I go:
Ep. 4 - Adywan
Ep. 5 - Adywan
Ep. 6 - (pending Adywan….)
Ep. 1 - L8wtr
Ep. 2 - L8wtr
Ep. 3 - Hal
Ep. 7 - Hal
Ep. 8 - Hal
Ep. 9 - no one, I can’t stand this movie.

Yeah, I have total faith in Rian Johnson’s vision here, and while it will never be ESB (what is?), it took a lot of chances, suffered more flak than Yossarian, and endured.

Hal’s edit is my go to for a few obvious and needed changes (it’s always the garish humor that goes first, isn’t it?) Some restructuring works (all that Canto) and that ending is just fantastic.

I’m a sucker for Mark Hamill, a great childhood hero, will always be so for me, so to see him in action here, til the bitter dual-sunset end, will always have a place close to the hermetically-sealed, open-by-lightsaber-only nerd-attic of my soul (dig that metaphor!).

What Hal’s two edits have done for me is give the first two sequels a home in my ever-expanding library of SW to gnaw on when the mood hits (or, as I see it for my daughter, when it’s time to go to school and learn some modern mythology).

The Dude just can’t abide Episode 9! I just don’t react well when I even think about how they tossed Anakin’s redemption arc into the gutter for the sake of Superdaisy needing something to do.

By the end of this episode the writing was already on the wall for Finn, as it was for Poe (that poor, emasculated bastard), but this film, warts and all, even post-fan edit, does conclude what i consider to be an intriguing epilogue ala “Death of Michael Corleone”, an asterisk, *not* a story arc with any intrinsic value that needed to be told, and certainly not an organic conclusion to the Skywalker story.

Begin and end your sequel experiences with Hal’s 7 and 8. The force is open to anyone, broom boy is where the epilogue should end (bringing it home!) RJ was daring and correct; Hal gets it.

From a pure narrative and directing standpoint it's a top 3 SW for me. But the movie also had a lot of issues, Canto Blight, humor rarely wellplaced, pacing issues and so on.

You've pretty much corrected everything that was possible without completely ruining the overall story and structure. So, as always great work.
The movie comes out so much more easy to watch, and the great moments it already had can really shine. My favorite from sequel trilogy, by far.

Thanks again for this really nice edit and french subtitles also.
