Big thanks to DonKamillo for making this VERY enjoyable edit.
Although it still is a pretty unsatisfying continuation of what Episode VII promised the coming stories to be, this version made it almost the best it can be! I for my taste would have cut some more things out, as a few scenes that were kept in seemed redundant now that other scenes were missing and a few others were still cringeworthy for me. But that´s personal taste.

I think this is the best edit around today!

I enjoyed this movier far more than the original. You removed almost all cringe from the original movie, only a very few humorous shots left. Leaving out sublot was done greatly. Your take on Leias was intresting, but i have not made up my mind on if it the right way to go for me. i had some issiue with Leia it felt a little jagged in story and the dices threw me off in the end. but it may also be in my mind i used to the original. Technically it was very good considiering the major reconstructing taking away huge amount of content and make it wacthable without sacrifices the narrative story. Nitpicking i saw only a couple cuts that i noticed something done with the film but not sure anyone who doesnt edit movies themself would have noticed. I get to say "i told you so" to my friend that there was a watchable movie in there somewhere if you trimmed away all the bad stuff. Very good fanedit in my mind. Keep up the good work.

I don't think I will ever consider this a great Star Wars film, but DonKamillo still managed the seemingly impossible - he's made it watchable. Clearing away the cringe debris has allowed some of the better moments to shine brighter. Best of all, he SAVED the character of Luke Skywalker. For that alone, he's a hero.

*spoilers*
The redone first meeting between Luke and Rey feels a bit awkward, but I'm not sure what else could have been done to clean up the original mess. The fight between Luke and Rey is much improved, as is the confrontation between Holdo and Poe. Finn is essentially an afterthought in this edit, but it had to be done. The film is so much better without Canto Bight. One nitpick that remains is that I wish Luke's "laser sword" line was axed. Just a reminder of Rian's disrespect for the legacy of Star Wars.

The ending in this edit is so much better than the original. I imagine Episode 9 will require some major edits to reflect changes to Luke and Leia in this version, but that's a problem for another day. Hopefully they learn from the mistakes of this film. As Yoda said, "the greatest teacher, failure is." Congratulations on a well done edit of an extremely difficult film!

I appreciate the ballzyness of this edit and what was done to get rid of many of the more unpleasant edits. The characters in the film feel less foolish at all points and there is a greater focus on many of the good bits Rian Johnson managed to create, and it's clear a lot of good work was done here, I saw no real technical issues apart from some iffy audio bits, such as Yoda's voiceover during the Luke/Rey fight.

My only problem is, without the admittingly BAD subplot, there's a sense of something missing. The resistance feels ignored much of the movie, like they're barely even in the movie at all, and so you kind of just get the sense that you've been with Rey/Luke for a really long time and that you're missing...something. That's not necessarily the editor's fault, it's the fact that the original film had to pad itself in such a way that when the subplot is cut out there's just nothing happening on the Resistance side of things. They feel like window dressing, and don't even have character arcs anymore. It's kind of a shame, but you can't magically edit in a better subplot.

I'm kind of a fan of the various edits to Luke's subplot though, although my only issue is it almost doesn't seem to make sense for Luke to suddenly want the Jedi to die because it wasn't his failing that caused Kylo to turn. Then again, it doesn't make sense in the original film either, and his out of character moment of igniting his saber on someone defenseless sure as heck doesn't make sense, so you're kind of stuck.

Lastly, there's not much to explain how the FO finds the cloaked ships, they just kind of do. I guess the plan failed anyway? That also didn't make much sense in the original why they wouldn't just see the transports in space.

I definitely appreciated what you were going for, it does make some of the better bits from the film shine, though it can't save a badly written movie. I feel like you might fix some issues if you kept Canto Blight out but could somehow have Finn and Rose go on the ship straight away? I don't know if that's possible to do, but that's my only suggestion if there were to be a revision. It would give the rebels more to do in the movie while keeping out the most egregious bit.

When they say that films can be saved in the edit, they are right. This version still has problems that are more at fault of the original script, but even the things i didn't like are made enjoyable to watch in this edit, The cringe is indeed removed, and I will now pretend that this is the actual release I saw in cinemas.
