Just by reading the changes I was sure this would be the go-to edit for this episode, at least until the ep9 is released. And it really delivered. Did you just single handedly make Star Wars fun again?? The Luke/Leia thing will not sit well with the next episode but in the meanwhile we can bathe in the glory that is this cut! I only hope Kylo would have been the trigger man (you know where), I think that could have been accomplished with some tricky editing, looking at the material at hand. I feel like giving a minus for this but I just can't, it's not that big a deal, I can merely hope for an updated edit (please!!). There was some similarly awesome creative editing in place already, like Luke handing the saber back. A Special thank you for editing out Rose condemning the rebels to die by preventing Finn's independence day moment.

This movie really felt like an actual Star Wars movie should. It's got a serious good/bad story and true heroes, mixed with just a bit of amusing moments. It was paced nicely and not filled with overstimulated action. The first order is not an order of idiots anymore but a true menace, etc. This cut is the way it should be right now, this cut should be the official one (+ with Kylo at the trigger), the one that JJ is working the sequel for right now. I wish there will be a continuity edit of ep9 to allow this edit to shine forever. Good job, I think I just became a Star Wars fan again.

Editing/Audio/Video: No visible/audible cuts jumped at me. I got the 10gb+ glorious fatfile for this edit, thank you so very, very much for the much needed bitrate! Looked absolutely glorious on my 65 incher. Now that's how you release a fanedit, ladies and gentlemen; quality for the ages! A perfect 10 from me!

I would, however, enjoy a separate short film from the casino/jail scenes, with the animal escape minimized.

Thanks for the review mate! I'm planning to do an edit for Ep9 but let's see what JJ does with it first ;)

WOW! Just finished watching DonKamillo's Fan Fix - and what a treat it is! I would advise anyone who is a fan of the original trilogy, and felt really let down after watching TLJ - YOU MUST GIVE THIS A WATCH! It has made this movie very watchable - and more importantly - enjoyable again!

Now, please go gentle on me - this is my first ever review...

I will start by saying that I am not a video or audiophile - and only watch movies via a 55" screen, without surround sound, etc. To me, the cutting/editing of the movie, was excellent - done to a very high quality, and I didn't notice any parts that jarred me - all cuts seemed to be very clean and seemless. This was the 10GB+ version, and it looked absolutely beautiful on the 55" screen - and I'm sure it will be too on much larger screens.

So, onto what I think of the actual movie/story itself...

It 'does what it says on the tin' - most of the cringeworthy sequences are gone! Normally this kind of cutting would result in jumps in the story (leaving you wondering what happened unless you previously watched the theatrical edition) - however, DonKamillo has managed this in a way that has left a very fluid movie!

Gone are what I would consider extra scenes to force humour, where IMHO none is needed - and where they're (quite obviously) also trying to make sure that the movie has the appeal to younger kids, at the cost of telling a true Star Wars story. In these superfluious scenes, it made me feel as though I was back watching the prequels again... so, thankfully that is no longer an issue with this Fan Fix!

This really does feel much more aligned with the original trilogy, and leaves a vastly more watchable movie. So glad that the 'Mary Poppins' scene is gone - that was by far THE worst scene (IMHO) in the whole movie! The 'old guard' of the Star Wars movies, must have been thinking 'what in actual f*** are we doing here?' Well, that scene and the 'milk' drinking scene - thankfully that's gone too!

I'm hoping that we don't need you to make a Fan Fix of Episode IX - however, I will keenly look forward to it if you do! Mind you, you'll probably need to re-work whatever Leia scenes they force into it...

Thanks again for giving me a very enjoyable cut of TLJ, that I can certainly look forward to watching again!

I actually liked a lot of the original cut of the Last Jedi, but often found myself disengaged with the humor and needless side stories. What hooked me was the engaging subversive drama revolving around Luke, Rey and Kylo and this edit brings the focus squarely onto that. At a nice pace, it does not drag and has such an abundance of material already that many of the things omitted here don't stand out as missing. The additions are seemlessly added in and provide no distraction. If there was one nitpick it would be the cringe that has to be kept in when Finn awakens from his coma in that suit, and maybe Luke's sass to R2D2 when he's showing him Leia's hologram. Speaking of Leia, I don't mind that she's killed off...it mirrors Carrie's real life passing and it gives the film additional stakes and feeds into Luke's character arc more. In some ways it helps subversive a film already so "subversible" (is that even a word?).

Overall, the anti-cringe cut doesn't just settle with removing the parts that make you wince, it creates a whole different take on the most divisive SW film of the modern era, one which gives you a distinct range of emotions and thoughts for the legends of old and the hope of tomorrow, and truly does restore a spark of balance to an uneven product.

Ok - cards on the table here folks...
I'm not a Star Wars anorak; Yes I've seen them all from the original in '77. Like most people, for me the 3 Prequels almost ruined the 'original' 3.
Bottom line - I like to watch a good story that's well told; effects and big name actors can't save a crap film.
SO, to say I was disappointed with TLJ's Theatre release is an understatement - I hated it... never wanted to see it again, etc etc.
I was wary in reading thru' the various Fan Edits here, but this one caught my eye... 'Anti_Cringe-Cut' ? Sounds interesting and it should be a somewhat shorter film too [given the amount of cringe in it!]
I really can't believe the job DonKamillo has done here - he has actually rescued TLJ from the Knacker's Yard!

Stupid attempts at humour - gone
F***in' Porgs! - [almost all] gone
Ach-To Caretakers [also, almost all] gone - But I could really have slept quite soundly without the hooley-around-the-campfire scene!
Canto-Bight's unneccessary side story - gone [praise the gods!]
Rose - hmmm. Personally I've no real issue with Rose BUT having removed Canto maybe she could have been omitted altogether - I'm unsure if that's possible tho'.
Lastly gone, and the scene that MOST annoyed me in TLJ [and that's saying something!] Leia's post-sucking-out scene is her last [well, pretty much]
I HATED the original flying Leia scene SO much.

If I could wish into being one other scene revision/alteration it'd be the corny red background/backdrop to Snoke's chamber [or whatever it's called] and the stupid looking praetorian-ish guards he has... ahem, 'guarding' him.
C'mon guys, it makes a school drama look like a major production. I mean Plain-red featureless walls? what happened, imagination took a holiday or what? [Sorry, I needed to vent there!]

THIS is the way I would have preferred to see TLJ in cinema's - the story makes sense now, no superfluous rubbish.
THIS should be your Go-To version - no doubts from me anyhow!

A couple of words to Maestro DonKamillo...
I'd respectfully suggest that to use your 'alternate poster' artwork as your sleeve art; the other 2 artworks have a tatty looking 'The Anti-Cringe Cut' insert in the bottom right corner that cheapens this astounding work - you do yourself a disservice with it, sir!
Also - I'm unsure how you're going to handle the forthcoming Episode 9 whenever it arrives; I have a feeling the narrative may well not flow at all well from this ACC to Ep9 - having said that, at least THIS is now watchable!

Well Done and congratulations on your wizardry ;)

I have seen many edits of Last of the Jedi to mixed results. Most don't take if far enough and I felt the original theatrical cut was convoluted and weak. It was just not for the fans but it had great ingredients. The Cringe-cut has taken what it could and made it into something great. My only complaint was the scroll should not say Cringe-cut and that is because it is a disservice to this great fan-edit. I felt like this is go-to so why not make the scroll fit in with the series.
I am not a fan-editor but have seen my share to know talent and making this movie fit into Star Wars world takes skill. *Spoiler alert-Though, handling of Leia and Luke will cause much disturbance in the (fan-based) force I think this was just better especially due to what sadly happened to Carrie Fisher. Motivations changed, sub-plots removed, scenes that are over the top or just too silly have been excised.

I had no issues with edits or sound issues, I just plain enjoyed a slimmed down, action packed Star Wars movie. Remember when they were fun and the good guys/gals win!
