The Anti-cringe Cut is a sanitised version of The Last Jedi. General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson) is more serious and Poe (Oscar Isaac) is less rebellious. Rose (Kelly Marie Tran) only briefly appears in the climax on Crait. Leia (Carrie Fisher) dies after her Resistance cruiser is attacked and Luke (Mark Hamill) survives.

The narrative changes mean this version will be incompatible with The Rise of Skywalker. Also, the editor has removed Leia and Luke's reunion, which is one of the saga's most tender moments.

However, the inclusion of extra content works well. For example, Skellig Island footage fills a gap between Luke realising Han is dead and a previously deleted scene showing his private grief. This brief insertion maintains the melancholy between these scenes.

The restored third lesson with the caretakers helps to show Rey's (Daisy Ridler) innocence. Also, her conversation with Luke after this lesson further intimates why she leaves him on the island.

Luke now uses a green lightsaber in his stand-off with Kylo Ren. This effect is an impressive technical acheivement, which references Return of the Jedi. Throughout this edit the visual and audio editing is flawless.

I recommend watching the Anti-cringe Cut as alternative version to the original film rather than as a placeholder in the saga.
