Brief Synopsis:
The ambitious fan edit of the first Star Wars film, toned down to please some "purists."
Intention:
Inspired by the ADigitalMan/Darth Editous Hybrid fan edit, Adywan decided to make his own edit based on the 2004 DVD.

This version of Revisited is unique in that Adywan went out of his way to edit back some scenes to see if people enjoyed it more.

Great audio/picture quality for a DVD, worth grabbing until the 720p version comes out.

The PURIST version takes out much of what was out of place in the original Revisited and crafts a wonderful should-be-SE. I'd go even more purist than Ady did, but this is ace nonetheless.

I'll add my kudos to the long list of accolades this Fan Edit has received. I have both the "original" and "purist" versions and love both, but prefer the purist edition as I don't like to see shots or music from later films incorporated into earlier works. However, these are an absolute MUST own. The best thing I can say about the film is that Adywan's edit made me feel almost as if I was watching Star Wars for the first time. Everything seemed so fresh -- especially the effects work during the escape from the Death Star and the final battle which is exhilarating. I'm counting the days until the release of Empire: Revisited. The Force is strong with this one!

I LOVE this edit of Star Wars EP IV. Adywan has made reality the childhood memories of Star Wars that so many of us have. This is what I remember Star Wars looking and feeling like. Yes, it is augmented, but these were the correct augmentations that should have been the "Special Edition", and if you're downloading this, that's the reason why you're getting it.

Best video quality of any DVD edit I've seen. Clear, Crisp, Accurate. 10/10
Audio: Flawless. 10/10
Narrative: I do wish the jabba scene was included in the movie [not included on either editions], but that doesn't detract from the narrative) 10/10
Enjoyment: STAR WARS as you remembered it in your jammies with home-made lightsaber, "VWOOSH"! 10/10
Perfect 10!

wish list for the 720p edition. Please add an option to watch the movie either purist or fully Adywan-ed, also with or without the jabba scene if desired.

Oh yeah if you didn’t know, this has an IFDB page now.

This was good stuff man. I’m a fan of ANHR so it follows that I verily enjoyed this. Editing was top notch. As far as the changes specific to the Purist Edition… I enjoyed the way the Obi-Wan Hut scene was edited in ANHR more. And I couldn’t tell what the other changes were, I ain’t that hardcore into this movie. So I prefer good ol’ Revisited. But honestly I could pop in either version and it’s 1:1 the same enjoyment.

A/V Quality - 10
Editing - 10
Narrative - 10
Enjoyment - 10 (OUT 10, SE 7)
