Review Detail

If you are a theatrical purist, this is your edit. Ebumms did a great job keeping the film mostly intact with its more revolting moments lightly trimmed. I have many annoyances with the original theatrical cut, but it remains a pretty good kids movie. Also, unlike the majority of fan edits, it keeps [most of] the 'planet core' sequence from near the beginning of the film. I do understand most editors' desire to cut it. The sequence adds a lot of Jar Jar, slows down the pace, and doesn't make sense geographically (among other offenders). However, I always liked it since it feels very 'Star Wars' to see a giant scary monster in the first third of the film, and it 'rhymes' with Episode VI that way. :)

Not my favorite Episode I edit, but well done all the same. If you tolerate The Phantom Menace or just don't mind the film as it is, this may be the spoonful of sugar you need.
