Review Detail

This project is, hands down, the best of the fan edits I’ve seen thus far. The Phantom Editor’s version of Star Wars Episode I is a perfect example of what can be done with pre-existing material, however this version of Episode IV goes a step beyond that. Creating more than a simple re-edit of the existing film, Adywan went in and corrected all the “mistakes” ILM made with the 2004 DVD version (lightsabers the wrong color and shifting color every other shot, etc) as well as toned down the overused CGI additions (“Hey, look at what we can do with this software, George!”). Phenomenal job. I especially enjoyed seeing Han not only shoot first, but the only one who shoots! This version is now my preferred one. I look forward to Empire ( I have to say though, the 2004 DVD of Empire is so far my favorite of the special editions of the original trilogy…Ian McDiarmid IS Palpatine!!!) and hopefully we can look forward to Jedi as well!!
