I think this fanedit is wonderful.
I really liked the changes TM2YC introduced and implemented - such as cutting the demotion/promotion subplot, the striptease, Uhura's drama, and many many others.
The plot flows beautifully now, without going off on tangents. Well done!
One thing I wish were possible is a complete removal of lens-flares. I know they're one of JJ Abrams trademarks, but they can be very distracting...
Anyway, long story short - I really love all of TM2YC's fanedits, and wish I was that skilled in fanfixing films.

What an improvement! TM2YC's edit convincingly surpasses the original.

Audio / video editing is seamless. Amazingly, the only time a visual transition pulled me out of the story was more than an hour in when the aspect ratio changed from Imax to wide-screen. Upon rewatching I saw that I'd sat through several aspect ratio changes earlier in the movie. Without realizing it!

Narrative editing is top notch. Plot distractions are removed, strengthening the plot and keeping it clearer. While I love to see Nimoy and lots of Uhura, his removal and her tantrum cut do make the story better. This edit feels less Wrath of Khan reboot and more stand-on-its-own Star Trek adventure.
One narrative transition felt truncated: we lose Carol Marcus' explanation that she can shuttle to an asteroid to open the torpedo outside the ship. Perhaps that line can be inserted over her walking into the shuttle followed by the slow zoom-in to the bridge?

I'm curious to see other edits of this movie. TM2YC certainly sets the bar high.

STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS is a movie I really enjoyed when it came out, I really enjoy JJ Abrams vision in this world, I consider the original movie to be really fun and entertaining, in a few words it was a solid 8 out of 10 for me, but this edit has completely replaced the original in my collection, it is absolutely fantastic. The change in direction it does near the end is an excellent choice, the new colors and cuts of plot holes and little comments that served no purpose only make it better, the transitions are great and the added effects make it look and feel seamless as if this was the original intent of the movie in the first place. I want to congratulate TM2YC for this fantastic reshaping of a this movie, it was a great and fulfilling experience. Definitely replaced the original movie for me, again, thanks for this.

I saw Star Trek: Into Darkness a few times when it first came out. It was a movie I really enjoyed upon the first viewing but thought less of on each subsequent viewing and haven't had a desire to return to since, until I was able to grab TM2YC's edit that is.

The one word I would use to describe this edit is "seamless". The tight, invisible editing that TM2YC has employed emphasizes the movies strengths while downplaying the moments that felt silly or forced in the original, all while not drawing attention to itself. Certain elements endemic to the plot (Khan's magic blood etc.) can't be fixed but they don't feel as unforgivable because the movie is tighter and the characters more likable on the whole. The movie now has the energy and charisma that propelled the 2009 film that preceded it. Overall I highly recommend this edit to anyone inclined to give this movie another chance.

I have seen Into darkness a fair number of times and while I like it quite a lot, I don't love it. I own it for the sake of completion.

There are a number of things wrong with the original film, and some of them are still prevalent in this edit (a guy can only do so much without making the film Jarring.) TM2YC has made the best possible version of the film with there could be - without resorting to reshoots. This missing 15 minutes of Spock & Kirk, Spock & Uhara, and Original Spock are not missed. Neither is the obvious fan service scene. With the necessary cuts this feels a lot closer to 09 than the cluttered mess it originally was. Things only happen when they need to, Friendships are reinstated, Kirk is not reinstated...because he doesn't get demoted in the first place.

A/V: were prefect, crisp quality, no ghosting, audio was clear and precise.
Editing: even though I know where scenes should be I try to imagine how I'd feel if I was watching the film for the first time and I think a fantastic job has been done here. Nothing feels deliberate or out of place, the pacing is much improved.
Story: Though I wouldn't have minded to see a little more (young) spock I didn't miss the omissions. The story feels more purposed with just the right balance of exposition, action and humour, scenes such the demotion just serve to create a fake mcguffin and are not missed at all.

I think this edit is definitely worth a viewing, but for me personally it's replaced the original, even if the ending still leaves something to be desired.
