TM2YC does the.. well the possible... what should have been done in the first place.

I wanted to enjoy this movie in theatres, I wanted to enjoy it when I bought the DVD to share with my dad (avid star trek fan) and I did, despite a lot of moments that make me raise my eyebrow. Why bother having Kirk demoted and repromoted? They sting you with it and immediately take it back. Spock yelling Khan in theatres got a chuckle out of me and I can't imagine that was the intended result.

That and a few other things, but this edit makes the movie what it should have been. Enjoyable from start to finish.

The edits are clean. Minor thing when a line of Spock's is changed at one point, his lips do not match up - so minor it doesn't lose points and I am sure I only noticed because I wrote the subtitles :).

TM2YC has produced a wonderful edit. The biggest difference maker to me was the color correction. Unfortunately, there is some color speckling here and there where the color correction wasn't 100%. Despite that slight issue, I thought this worked really well. I felt this was a fantastic improvement over the original. I will note that, having watched it with people who had seen Into Darkness, but not Wrath of Khan, some individuals felt there was a particular scene missing from the edit. As a long time Star Trek fan, I disagree with them. :)

TM2YC has done an excellent job fixing the major problems with "Into Darkness," including some I hadn't thought were fixable (such as Kirk's demotion and Uhura's characterization). The FX work he's done to get some of these changes to work is nothing short of flawless, and I noticed no audio issues on my 2.1 soundbar setup.

Narratively, I still have my issues with the film, specifically Khan's magical healing blood and the "Wrath of Khan" remake B.S. with Kirk that makes the magical healing blood necessary to the plot, but the way it's been edited here makes it all much more palatable. And I have to say, bold (but very smart!) choice in cutting Nimoy from the film - I wouldn't have thought a fan editor would have the guts to do that now that he's sadly gone, but it is absolutely the right choice for this film.

"Star Trek: Vengeance" now it sits comfortably alongside the theatrical ST09 and Beyond discs on my shelf, forever replacing the theatrical cut with no reservations whatsoever.

So I liked the original film well enough, Im a huge Star Trek fan and a fan of Benedict Cumberbatch. But the movie always was off for me, particularly how it treated Uhura and Carol. The gratuitous strip tease from Carol is gone, which I appreciated since it did nothing for the plot or character AT ALL. And a lot of the "nagging Uhura" lines are gone, which really does a lot of good for her character (since I actually LIKE her character) Another welcome change I never knew I needed was the elimination of Kirks demotion. It was always weird to me that he was figuratively put in a corner for five minutes and then let back out when Pike was killed. This way he still got reprimanded for his actions but it made more sense plot wise. While I do love the iconic "KHAANNNN!" moment, the lack of it doesnt harm the movie in any way.

I think the only issue I have with this edit, which is one I can easily fix myself and its not really that distracting, is that the movie will switch from full screen to wide screen at some points. Im not sure why, as the scenes arent deleted or anything. (Keep in mind Im new to the site so I might have used the wrong file)

Star Trek: Vengeance takes the already pretty good but very flawed Star Trek Into Darkness and makes it genuinely great, up there with the other two Kelvin Timeline entries of the franchise. The plot feels much more clear, without any unnecessary distractions like Carol Marcus' striptease or the more fan service-y bits and pieces. The changes I appreciated the most are incorporating the deleted scene explaining why Carol has a British accent and re-arranging the Spock hunting Khan bit where he's now chasing him to get his blood as opposed to wanting revenge. While I did enjoy Leonard Nimoy's appearance and the relationship tensions between Spock and Uhura in the original film, I had no problem with them being cut out for this edit as a means of keeping the story focused. This feels less like a Wrath of Khan wannabe and more like a standalone strong Star Trek adventure, and for that alone, I got a real kick out of this edit.
